After her initial schooling, Divya graduated with a B.Com Honours from Delhi University’s Janki Devi Memorial College. Her mother always wanted Divya to focus on her studies and never allowed her to watch any films.
While in college, Divya started getting many modelling offers. At the age of 18, she started modelling for advertisements. Since her mother was from an Army background, she never discouraged Divya from modelling, though her father was not comfortable. At the age of 20, Divya shifted to Mumbai all alone to try her hand at modelling.
Within a year of moving to Mumbai, she bagged a music video opposite Salman Khan. In 2004, Divya got her first South Indian film, Love Today, opposite Uday Kiran and in the same year, she also made her Bollywood debut with Anil Sharma’s film, Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Sathiyo, opposite Akshay Kumar and Bobby Deol.
Later, Divya took a break from acting and focused on directing and took a course in cinematography and editing. After directing 20 music videos, Divya did her first directorial venture, Yaariyan, in 2014, which became a box office success.

She also received a Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for her performance in Bulbul.
It was during the shooting of the film, Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo that Divya Khosla met Bhushan Kumar for the first time. Smitten by Divya’s beauty and charm, Bhushan tried to woo her. As Divya was aware of Bhushan’s Casanova image, she stepped back, but he tried his best to win her over.
Bhushan was so serious about Divya that he sent his cousin, Ajay Kapoor to Delhi to talk to Divya. He later invited Divya and his family to his sister’s wedding and their respective families met each other. In a throwback interview with the leading portal, the actress talked about the same and said:
“He invited me with my family for his sister’s wedding in Delhi, and that is when my parents met him and they liked him instantly because of his humility even after so many achievements. My mother pushed me to get married to him, and by then I also had started liking him. Thus, we got married."
Divya Khosla and Bhushan Kumar got married on February 13, 2005, at the Vaishno Devi Temple in Jammu. She was just 21 when she got married to the T-Series honcho. Sonu also accused Bhushan of not giving a chance to new talents in the industry. In response to Sonu’s accusations, Divya posted a video and blasted at Sonu Nigan and also called him ‘thankless.’
In 2018, Bhushan Kumar came into the spotlight after an actress accused him of sexual misconduct in the wake of the ‘Me Too’ movement. She alleged that Bhushan asked her for physical favours in return for a three-film contract. When she refused, she was not just dropped from the film but was also threatened with dire consequences.
It was Divya, who came in support of her husband and called all the reports baseless. She also praised her husband, Bhushan, a man full of values and principles. Releasing a public statement on the same, Divya stated:
“My husband has got TSeries where it is today purely on the basis of extreme hard work. People even stood up against Lord Krishna who’s praiseworthy. Though the #metoo movement is meant to clean up the society, it’s sad that some people have started misusing it. I have been with my husband hand in hand as he’s taken his father’s dream forward. He’s a man full of values and principles. It’s unfortunate that people put baseless allegations without having their facts and proofs in place.”
In February 2024, Divya removed ‘Kumar’ from her surname. Taking to the discussion portal, Reddit, a user shared a screengrab of Divya Khossla’s IG handle, wherein the diva’s name didn’t have the surname, ‘Kumar’ added to it. According to the internet user’s claims, the actress has seemingly dropped her husband’s surname from her name, which earlier used to appear as Divya Khossla Kumar. Not just this, the actress also unfollowed Bhushan’s maiden music label, T-Series. After this, many social media users started commenting on Bhushan and Divya getting a divorce.
Despite being associated with one of the biggest music labels, Divya Khosla carved a path for herself on her own. She is an inspiration to millions.
