Ekta Kapoor has been famous for making cringe daily soaps for the last two decades. Sometimes she got applauded, and sometimes, the TV serials landed her into controversy. Recently, she has been making the headlines for being under Supreme Court’s radar as she produced several explicit shows on Alt Balaji like Gandii Baat, XXX, Bekaboo, Ragini MMS 2 and more.
However, this time, the Padma Shri awardee, Ekta Kapoor, broke her silence and took a savage dig at Karan Johar for producing a similar genre of content, which may pollute young minds, and producing it right under everyone’s nose. Taking to her IG handle, she indirectly talked about Karan Johar’s film, Lust Stories and compared it with her adult comedy series, Gandii Baat. She penned:
“Tum karo toh Lust Stories, hum kare toh Gandii Baat.”

Ekta Kapoor didn’t stop there, she took to her IG stories again and penned another note. Ekta wrote that though she refrained from commenting on controversial things, she felt this time it was not fair for the jury to criticise her web series, XXX and Gandii Baat, amid the selection stage.
Karan had directed the film, Lust Stories in 2018, which was a clever take on modern relationships from the viewpoint of Indian women. The movie portrayed not only strained marriages but also showed sexual hiccups. The anthology got famous because of Kiara Advani’s orgasm scene.

While visual entertainment in India comes with a pre-censorship, which requires the creators to get a certificate that allows public distribution, humongous OTT platforms like Netflix give a free hand to the creators. And this is how Lust Stories was streamed on Netflix without facing any objectivity.
