Ektaa Kapoor's directorial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, was one of the hit serials when it was premiered on Indian television. It featured Smriti Irani in the lead role of ‘Tulsi Virani’, which made her a household name. Smriti was immensely loved for her on-screen character and the nation still remembers her acting prowess in the same. However, she has left behind her acting career and joined politics. She is currently an incumbent Minister of Women and Child Development, as well as the Minister of Minority Affairs.
But during a recent conversation, Smriti Irani claimed that an astrologer aided her role in the hit serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and this landed her in a bit of trouble as Ektaa Kapoor refuted her statements. Taking to her IG stories, Ektaa reshared the video from Smriti's interview and penned a note contradicting the latter's narrative. It was during a candid conversation with Curly Tales that Smriti Irani opened up about the time when she landed the role of Tulsi in the serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She shared an interesting anecdote about the same and mentioned how it was possible only because of an astrologer, who was sitting in Ektaa Kapoor's office at that time. Elaborating the same, she mentioned:
"That didn't happen because of persona or personality or anything else. Astrologer baitha tha ek Ektaa Kapoor ke office mein toh panditji ne kaha yeh joh ladki abhi ghum rahi hai wahan pe, isko rokiye, yeh kaun hai. The astrologer’s name was Janardhan, and he said I would become a big star, I had gone there to sign a contract where I was going to play the role of someone’s sister. I didn’t know Ektaa was sitting behind a curtain with the pandit."
In the same conversation, Smriti divulged that it was the astrologer who pointed her out, and since he was a face reader, he gave Ektaa a visionary about the former. Smriti continued her story by mentioning how that person knew Smriti was going to be a big face in the country. Thus, he recommended her, and Ektaa immediately offered her the role. In Smriti's words:
"So, she said, 'Why, why should we stop her?' Toh unhone kyun, kya hai, kyun roke isko. Unhone kahan, 'isko agar tum rokoge, iss se kaam karoge, yeh bahut bada desh mein naam hone wali hai'. The minute he finished his sentence Ektaa immediately came and asked me what was I signing."
