Emraan Hashmi is one of the most talented and hardworking actors in Bollywood. From his debut in the early 2000s, the actor has entertained the audience through his varied performances. Emraan has often opened up about his extra efforts to better portray his characters. Recently, he revealed one such intense preparation he did for his famous film, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai.
Emraan sat down for an interview for Bollywood Bubble's show, Brunch with Bubble. He revealed that when he began his acting career, he never used to pay much attention to his diet. The actor said that at that time, little attention was paid to an actor's physique or health. However, he began paying attention to his physique when he signed Milan Luthria's film, Once Upon A Time With Mumbaai. The filmmaker asked him to get in shape and look sharp for his role as 'Shoaib' in the movie. He was quoted as saying:
"I don't think I was there in the beginning. I think I started paying attention to it when my director told me for the first time that I had to get into a certain physical form, which no other director had told me before. And that was Milan Luthria for 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai', where I had to be toned down and sharp look."

Emraan continued that no director had ever asked him before that to work on his physical transformation. Around that time, Om Shanti Om was released, and everyone appreciated Shah Rukh Khan's toned body in the film. Notably, his chiseled abs in the Dard-e-Disco song became the talk of the town. As a result, even Emraan was inspired by SRK and hired a personal trainer to work on his body. In his words:
"At that time there was a trend that started with SRK's six-pack abs, and that became a sticking point with the publicity of a lot of actors. Everyone wanted six-pack abs, right? I think it was for the song in 'Om Shanti Om'. So that became a thing, and everyone wanted to jump on that bandwagon."
The actor shared that after the first time, the trend picked up, and different filmmakers asked him to change his physique as per the requirements of his role, which has been difficult for him. The Selfiee actor said that he gained weight for his role in Shanghai, and it was fun because he ate a lot of brownies and pizza. However, within the next two months, he had to shed those extra pounds and worked on building his abs for his film, Murder 2. Emraan said that constant weight changes can also be unhealthy for the body.
