Esha Deol kept up the legacy of her legendary actor parents, Hema Malini and Dharmendra, in putting forth her brilliant acting mettle in the film industry. For the unversed, she had made her debut in the year 2002, with her film, Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche. Subsequently, she went on to bag the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut that year. Fast forward to now, Esha’s first film as a producer, Ek Duaa got a special mention at the 69th National Film Awards recently.
In a recent interview with ETimes, Esha Deol shared her experience of watching her father, Dharmendra’s performance in his new film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The doting daughter revealed that the film, was quite emotional for her to watch as a whole. However, speaking about her father’s performance, Esha revealed that it was difficult for her to sit through certain portions of her father’s scenes in the movie. In her words:

“Yes, I did watch it and it was a very emotional film. It was very difficult for me as a daughter to sit through certain scenes that my dad was performing. But I mean, I love him too much and as an audience also, I admire him. So, I had to just sit and tell myself not to be the daughter while watching it. Watch it as an audience.”

In one of her previous interviews with the Indian Express, Esha had revealed that her father, Dharmendra did not want her to enter the films, as he was quite orthodox and possessive about her. She explained her father’s stance, and added that Dharmendra believed in his daughters being protected and kept safeguarded always. In her words:
“As far as my father is concerned, he is possessive and orthodox, and for him, girls should be kept away from the world in a protected way. That was what he must have felt, also knowing how our industry functions. All said and done, we managed and how.”
In one of her old interviews with ETimes, on the occasion of Father’s Day, Esha Deol had reminisced a memory of her dad, Dharmendra from her childhood. She recalled how at times, when her mother, Hema Malini would be out for work or shoot, it was her father who would take care of her, and did everything to make her stay happy and cheerful, and not miss her mom.

Being a star kid, Esha Deol has faced many different challenges to establish her worth in the film industry, that would be certainly separate from the heights achieved by her actor parents, Dharmendra and Hema Malini. Speaking along the same lines, Esha, in one of her older interviews, revealed if her parent’s superhit careers affected her own film career. She had mentioned:
“I was only 18 when I started acting, and at that age, you are very naïve, very excited, you’re gonna act and all that is there. When you see certain things and you’re reading some article, then you realize they are comparing my first movie’s performance to my mom who’s done maybe more than 200 films.”
