Dharmendra ji had tied the knot with ‘dream girl’ of Bollywood, Hema Malini on August 21, 1979. Dharam ji and Hema ji were blessed with a little angel on November 2, 1981, and named her, Esha Deol and in the year, 1985 had welcomed their second angel, Ahana Deol. Esha had made her Bollywood debut with the movie, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe in the year 2002 and proved everyone that she is not just a star kid. In the 17 years of her career, she saw lots of ups and downs but more than that, it was her father’s denial for her acting career that has made her emotional. Esha had returned to the silver screen with the movie, Cakewalk and received many awards for the same. But it was a special wish that had made Esha's comeback movie special for her.
Dharmendra ji never wanted his daughter, Esha Deol to enter Bollywood. In Hema Malini's biography, Beyond The Dream Girl, Esha had revealed that her father, Dharmendra had stopped talking to her for almost six months when she made her debut in Bollywood. It was after 17 years that Dharmendra ji has finally complimented Esha for her work. He had taken to social media and congratulated Esha for her performance in Cakewalk and she had felt extremely special. In an interview with SpotboyE, Esha shared her experience and said, “Papa wished me for the first time for my work, and he had never seen any of my films. I guess Cakewalk is the first film of mine which Papa watched and loved. For a daughter, her father's wish and blessings will always be the biggest award."
Hema Malini had also taken to her Instagram handle and had congratulated her daughter, Esha Deol for her work in the movie, Cakewalk. During the same interview, Esha also talked about her mother always encouraging her and supporting her. She shared, “My mom has encouraged me in all my endeavors. Esha Deol had tied the knot with her childhood sweetheart, Bharat Takhtani on June 29, 2012, and in an unseen video from her vidaai, we could see an emotional Deol pariwaar and inconsolable Dharam ji. Speaking about his jaan, Esha ahead of her vidaai, the doting father had said, “Esha meri jaan hai, meri bahaut pyaari beti hai. Betiyank badi hoti hai to unke liye fikr badhti hai ki achha ladka dhundha jaaye toh humein accha ladka mil gaya. Ab shaadi ho gayi hai ab vidai ho jayegi toh lagta hai ki paal pos ke bada karte hai fir ek din paraye ghar chali jaati hai.”
Esha Deol had first introduced Bharat to her mommy, Hema ji and later her father, Dharam ji. Recalling his first meeting with Dharmendra ji, Bharat, in an interview with a leading portal had revealed, “Dharamji’s seen life. He listed a few things and asked whether I’d be able to fulfill those. I’ve turned more responsible after that meeting.
