There is no doubt that fans control the bridle of fame of celebrities. Fandoms have such powers that they can make or break a celebrity. While fans from most countries tend to be understanding and forgiving if their favourite star makes a mistake, South Korean fans are known to be stricter in such cases. They are less likely to forgive or overlook any missteps made by their favourite K-pop idols, actors, or actresses if they deviate from the traditional parameters of South Korean showbiz.
Hence, Hallyu celebs are always extra cautious with their actions and decisions. However, Seo Ye Ji, the female lead of the blockbuster K-drama, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay and Eve, did not quite get the mandate, and she transgressed a boundary. In return, she faced a lot of backlash from her fans in South Korea.

She also asked him to act cold towards female co-stars and staff and avoid interacting with anyone from the opposite gender.
Just after this revelation, Seo Ye Ji's agency responded to the matter, but at that time, the actress did not make any comments. She kept a low profile and withdrew from the drama, Island. However, later on, she decided to speak out about the matter. Her statement mentioned:
“Seeing all of the reproach and the many things that have been said about me, I have been taking time to reflect on myself up until now. I would like to sincerely apologize for making many people uncomfortable due to my shortcomings. Once again, I sincerely bow my head and apologize for the fact that I have disappointed you greatly. All of this stemmed from my immaturity, and I will work hard to behave more carefully in the future and show you a more mature version of myself.”
Seo's agency released a statement describing the scandal as a result of personal immature feelings in a romantic relationship. The statement also mentioned that Kim had asked Seo, who was filming a different drama, to avoid filming kiss scenes.
