Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece, Sharmin Segal has been subjected to the incessant trolling for her poor performance in the web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Sharmin has been heavily criticised for holding the same expression in every scene and delivering monotonous dialogues. While the actress claimed that she tried to inculcate Meena Kumari's nothingness to her acting, audiences think otherwise. Now, Fardeen Khan has come in support of Sharmin against severe trolling.
In a candid conversation with Zoom, Fardeen Khan, who plays the role of 'Nawab Wali Mohammed', opened up about his Heeramandi co-star, Sharmin Segal receiving severe criticism of her performance. “I think it’s unfortunate the whole trolling aspect of it. Everyone has the right to like or not like someone’s performance, but this whole trolling aspect is something that’s just simply wrong and not done.”

Fardeen further defended Sharmin's performance in Heeramandi and said that the latter did a very decent job. He added that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece had a very complex role and had to work with some mega stars in the web series, which was a great start for her career. Elaborating the same, the No Entry actor said:
“I believe she’s done a very, very decent job in Heeramandi. She had a very complex, challenging role and she was working with some mega actors out there. I think it was a great start for her career and acting in general.”
Speaking along the same lines, Fardeen Khan mentioned that even he has been a victim of trolling multiple times, which is very unfortunate. However, he added that one needs to develop thick skin and call out the people for their wrongdoings. In Fardeen's words:
“I have been a victim of trolling myself. It’s unfortunate signs of the times. It is what it is. You have got to develop some thick skin and when it’s wrong, you need to speak up and call it out. It reveals more about the people trolling than the person being trolled.”
