Veteran actress, Farida Jalal still has the same magic and calming aura on the silver screen that bounds to make a film super hit. The 75-year-old actress was recently seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, and fans were in awe of her beauty and acting prowess. While she now takes selected projects, there was a time when she was a part of every hit film, including Raja Hindustani, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and many more. However, the less work in her way has left Farida Jalal deeply hurt. Recently, she talked about Karan Johar and how he had shifted his loyalties.
Veteran actress, Farida Jalal talked about her once-favourite director, Karan Johar and how he has stopped casting her in his films. The actress accused him of 'shifting loyalties too soon' in an interview with Bollywood Bubble. She added that Karan Johar's father, Yash Johar, was an amazing person, and he had told her once how her roles are first written even before deciding on the hero. She was quoted as saying:
"Karan Johar voh, un dino, I don't know aaj kal ke Karan ke ab toh.. They shift loyalties very fast, these people. Ab toh unke liye filmon mein mere liye koi role hota nahi hai, warna mere bina koi film banti nahi thi. I remember Yash Johar was one of my favourite producer, and what a man, gem of a person. Woh phone utha kar bolte the, 'Dekhiye Farida, hero ka role toh baad mein likha jaata hai, aapka role pehle likha jaata hai.' Aise karke shuruwaat karte the. I used to feel so happy, ek rishta ban gaya tha."

Earlier, in an interaction with India Today, Farida Jalal revealed that Yash Chopra once told her that he wanted her in every film, and asked her never to say 'no' to any character they offer. To which, she agreed but one fine day, roles stopped coming her way. However, she got an appreciation video message from Yash Chopra and Karan Johar, after she worked in a television show. And as a gesture, she had sent them a box of chocolate with a note reminding them about their promise. But she didn't get any reply back.
It was much later when Karan Johar called her for the role of 'dadi' for the film, Student Of The Year, and he knew that they did her wrong. However, Farida Jalal told Karan Johar how she was waiting for just a call. She said:
"One fine day, I’m in my car, and I get a call from Karan. He said he wants me to do the dadi’s role, and I said, ‘Of course, I’ll do it, Karan’. He said, ‘I told them in the office to not call you, I’ll call you myself’. Why did he say that? Because he knew, he knew that we’ve wronged her in many ways. I said, ‘You understand, don’t you Karan? This is what I needed. One phone call."
