Fawad Khan And Mahira Khan's Comeback, Their Show 'Humsafar' To Get Stage Adaptation In India

Pakistani dramas have a separate fan base across their borders, especially in Asian countries, including India. In 2016, Pakistani artists were officially banned in a unanimous decision. Now that the ban is over, many Pakistani actors are set for their comeback in India. Reportedly, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s show, Humsafar is all set to get a stage adaptation in India.

Pakistan’s HUM TV approached for the adaptation rights

Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan bagged a special place in the hearts of fans with their drama, Humsafar. In a report by Zoom, theatre and film actor, Imran Zahid, confirmed the news of the Indian stage adaptation of the Pakistani series. Imran said:

“We've approached Pakistan’s HUM TV regarding the stage adaptation rights for the Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer Humsafar serial. We are currently in discussions with Momina Duraid, the creative head of HUM TV and CEO of MD Productions, who also happens to be the creator of Humsafar.”

The actor further revealed that both sides have come upon a mutual understanding, and if all goes well, the official announcement will be made soon. He added:

“It will be performed free of charge, with no monetary gain, as part of an initiative to promote Indo-Pak peace following recent decisions by the Indian High Court and Supreme Court. The final announcement is expected in a few days. Additionally, I should mention that Sultana Siddiqui, the founder and president of HUM TV, and also Momina Duraid’s mother-in-law, is involved in the discussions. I wanted to share this news with you ahead of time.”

Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s movie, The Legend Of Maula Jatt, set to release in India

Fawad and Mahira’s movie, The Legend Of Maula Jatt proved to be revolutionary for South Asian cinema. The movie was to be released in 2023 in India, but the distributors changed their decision at the last moment. As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, Zee Studios has once again acquired the rights and it might be released on September 20, 2024.

Fawad Khan’s popularity in India increased when he appeared in movies such as Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Meanwhile, Mahira Khan was seen only in Bollywood in her debut movie, Raees, alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Since the official ban, both actors have worked in Pakistani dramas and movies, but now that the ban has been uplifted, they are all set to make a comeback.
