The once-beloved Indian YouTuber, Gaurav Taneja, faced severe backlash due to rumours of his separation from his wife, Ritu Rathee. The controversy began when Ritu was absent from a family vacation and the fact that Gaurav chose not to mention anything about her in his videos. Then, on September 28, 2024, Gaurav posted a cryptic message about his marriage to Ritu on his Instagram handle, further fueling many rumours.
Amid this, a video of Ritu went viral. In it, she shared her concerns in the video about her daughters with a spiritual guru and that her husband has only betrayed her over the years. Although, Ritu later tried to cover it up, but the damage was done.

Gaurav Taneja recently posted a picture of himself and his wife, Ritu Rathee, on his Instagram handle. Taking to the caption, Gaurav shared that even when one's parents go through a difficult phase in their relationship, they don't talk about it with their children, even though they are an immediate family. Certain things are personal matters, and not everyone should know about them. In Gaurav's words:
"To everyone reading this, your parents must have also gone through some tough times in their marriage and might not have even disclosed it to you (immediate family)."
Gaurav emphasised that the message is clear. When your own parents don't share their personal life issues with you, then why should he and Ritu be answerable to the netizens? Gaurav further added:
"Message is clear, jab tumhare maa baap ne tumhe apne relation mein nahi ghusaya, to please hum kaise ghusaye. Every sensible person would understand this."
Amidst the chaos of Gaurav and Ritu's separation, an old video of Gaurav surfaced on social media, where he discussed the societal pressure on couples post-baby. He shared that most extramarital affairs occur when a woman gives birth, as she is often preoccupied with the child, leaving the husband feeling neglected. However, he also stressed that men should not seek solace elsewhere if their partner is busy with the child.

Gaurav Taneja and his wife, Ritu Rathee, gained immense fame via their YouTube vlogs. So much so, they were invited to participate in Star Plus' couple reality show, Smart Jodi. In one of the episodes, Gaurav revealed that after he and Ritu welcomed their first baby, their wedding hit rock bottom. It was not because they were unhappy about the baby but because he thought Ritu no longer loved him. In Gaurav's words:
"At one point in time, I thought that Ritu didn’t love me anymore as I wasn’t her priority."
