India and Pakistan are two such countries that are geographically right next to each other. Also the interest in what is happening on the other side of the border prevails in the hearts of both countrymen, and the only way to get a peek is via various media platforms. Pakistani dramas in recent times have flourished in India by leaps and bound. They are available not only on different OTT platforms but also on YouTube that too for free. One of the main reasons why Pakistani dramas are doing so well in India is because the language barrier is minimal here, moreover, the content is so diverse that it satisfies every kind of viewer. Here are a few of the Pakistani dramas that took India by storm and are a perfect indulgence for everyone who wants to bask amidst quality content.

Suno Chanda is the ultimate comfort show for all the rom-com lovers. The story is about two cousins, 'Jiya' and 'Arsal', who are forced to marry each other by their grandmother. Season 1 follows the duo's track of trying to get out of their forced marriage and how their families are at each other’s throats. The two are literal Tom and Jerry, and their continous bickering is hilarious. As the story proceeds, 'Arsal' and 'Jiya' end up falling in love but their families are at war per se. The drama is just the chef’s kiss.
Suno Chanda Season two follows the life of the same characters but showcases their story after marriage. 'Jiya' and 'Arsal' are now married and struggling to accommodate to that change. While 'Jiya' wants to go abroad for her further studies, 'Arsal' doesn’t want her to leave. The season's most entertaining and endearing part is the relationship between 'Jiya' and her mother-in-law, 'Shahana'. The duo set literal goals for in-laws' relationships.

Tere Bin is one of the most trending drama of recent times that took both the competing nations by storm. It was an overnight sensation and had everyone hooked on its storyline. The story follows the lives of 'Murtasim' and 'Meerab', who are forced to get married in an unexpected turn of events due to property succession laws. The story is a hate-to-love journey where the chemistry of the main leads sets the screen on ablaze. Another factor that made the drama so engaging was the antagonist, 'Haya', who had such cruel yet entertaining tricks under her sleeves.
The 2021 drama’s OST (original soundtrack) was one of the most trending tracks of recent times. The drama is a typical Cinderella retelling with lots of melodrama and tears, however, what grasped the viewers' attention was the chemistry of the main leads. Starring Hania Amir and Farhan Saeed in lead roles, Mere Humsafar depicts how a life partner should ideally be. India’s entire millennial and GenZ population were in awe of the male lead, 'Hamza'. The story follows the life of 'Hala', a mentally and physically tortured girl who is rescued by 'Hamza', her foreign-return cousin who marries her.
Zindagi Gulzar hai was one of the pioneer dramas of Pakistan that made its way into India. It was so popular that an Indian TV network broadcasted it, especially for the Indian audience. The drama fights the orthodox mentality of society and overrules the notion of male-child superiority. It also features heartthrob, Fawad Khan in the lead role alongside Sanam Saeed. The drama revolves around 'Kashaf', a girl raised by a single mother who faces several challenges in a male-dominated society. It is her journey of belittling the patriarchy and empowering other women along the way.

Pakistani elites, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer Humsafar is a story of a couple who faced several difficulties in their marital life and overcame them through the course of time. The main leads in the drama cannot stand each other and are forced to marry due to family obligations. The couple face several marital challenges in their initial phase but later fall into a rhythm of their own, however, as misunderstandings and ploy target their relationship, the duo are forced to separate. This is their story of holding on to each other and fighting every obstacle together.
Maat is one of India's highest-rated Pakistani dramas and a fan favourite. The story follows the life of two sisters, 'Aiman' and 'Saman'. Unlike the other stereotypical depiction of sisterly love, this drama upholds the bitterness of sibling rivalry. 'Saman' is an ambitious girl who dreams of a luxurious life and can go to any extent to achieve it. In contrast, 'Aiman' is a modest sibling who is very family oriented. The sisters with opposite ideologies collide, resulting their lives to go on a roller-coaster ride.
kaisi Teri Khudgarzi started as a typical love story where a son of a business tycoon falls in love with an ordinary middle-class girl. However, as the story proceeds, the drama turns as realistic as it can get, starring Danish Taimoor and Dur-e-Fishan Saleem in lead roles, the story fights toxic masculinity and establishes a love story like no other. Pakistan dramas are known for their realistic plots and unexpected twist, and Ishqiya is a personified version of everything that Pak-dramas entail. The story follows the story of two sisters, 'Hamna' and 'Rumi', who are complete opposites. 'Hamna' is in relationship with 'Hamza', but due to family pressure, she marries 'Azeem'. Hurt by this betrayal, 'Hamza' marries 'Rumi'. 'Hamaza' had every intention to seek revenge from 'Hamna' by torturing 'Rumi', but he wasn’t prepared for 'Rumi' to be a quirky firecracker. The four navigate their new relationships, and when they seem to have everything figured out, past secrets are revealed.
Parizaad is equally acclaimed and widespread in both Pakistan and India. The drama’s no-nonsense, to-the-point approach with brilliant script and acting has won the audience. The drama follows the story of a dark-skinned boy, 'Parizaad', who faces several challenges in society and even in his family due to his complexion and poverty. The story further questions society’s set standard of beauty from the male perspective, which was the first of its kind.
Yaqeen Ka Safar follows the journey of two practising doctors, 'Zubia' and 'Asfand'. 'Zubia' is grieving her mother's death, which her father caused. She seeks justice for her mother and, on the course, meets 'Daniyal', a London return lawyer. Then there is a poor girl who is sexually molested by a political heir and his friends. The show depicts three parallel stories, each fighting social and human injustice of their own.
