Anil Sharma opens up about his take on celebs' high entourage costs

Yet again, another filmmaker, Anil Sharma opened up about the huge entourage costs that became prevalent in the industry and gave his two cents on the same. Just like Karan Johar, Farah Khan and others, Anil, too, called them a waste of money. Anil mentioned the high entourage fees are unnecessary, especially when those celebs' movies aren't making enough at the box office. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Anil said:

“Actors have the audacity to increase their entourage costs at a time when their films aren’t even working in theaters. Actors ki itni value hi nahi reh gayi ab ki public unko dekhne aaye. Gone are those times when we (the Hindi film industry) used to make films with Dharmendra and many others, with tickets getting booked a week in advance. It doesn’t happen now."

"The public is not coming to see you in the theaters. OTT par aapko majboori mein dekhti hain, woh bhi 25 mein se do films dekh li toh dekh li. You don’t even know if your film is a flop or a hit. You put a mark on it on your own and live in your world. Either they are earning from Instagram or advertising, cinema se unko kuch nahi mil raha kyunki unko public dekhne hi nahi aa rahi. It is the bitter truth.”

Further, calling the older times 'the golden era', Farah mentioned how heroines back then were comfortable in changing clothes even behind the trees. The acclaimed director explained that for certain privacy reasons, especially for the actresses, the director herself held towels or bedsheets on the outdoor shoots while they changed inside. But elaborating more about the shift in on-set amenities over the years, she shared:

“Earlier, heroines would change behind trees, we would hold towels for them. I have done it for them. When you go for (outdoor) shoots you’d do it, even in Switzerland they would change behind the bus, use bedsheets to cover. Now the actors don’t budge unless their vans come.”
