Why should brides have all the fun on their wedding day? Today, Indian grooms too love to make a big splash on their wedding day and want to put their best foot forward. The Indian groom now has a say in what he wants to wear, how he wears it, where he buys it and how much he spends on it, instead of leaving it to the female members of his family.
If you have money to burn, head to the designer stores and have a ball picking and choosing from the best. But if you want to buy smart, not cheap, and still nail the high street look, it is possible.

Your Options
First, let’s talk about your wardrobe options for your wedding celebrations. Contrary to popular belief, you do have an array of choices in front of you: sherwanis, achkans, Jodhpuri suits, tuxedos, kurtas teamed with pajamas or dhotis.
Sherwanis are a hot favourite. Achkans are similar to sherwanis but are worn with churidhars. Sherwanis can be paired with churidhars, pajamas and shalwars. Kurta-pajamas are not as simple as they sound. A kurta with embellishments can look great. Jodhpuri suits are the perfect way to combine western and traditional elements of design. If you decide to go with a tuxedo, go all the way and get tie pins, cufflinks and formal shoes.
Tailor It
Look through magazines, catalogs and online. If an outfit calls out to you, just cut it out and get a good tailor. In case there’s time, do a trial run to see if the tailor is any good. If the fabric is expensive, opt for something that is similar to the original fabric but costs less. Remember, it should cost lesser not look cheap. Hand it over to a good tailor who can replicate the design. It is all about the finish and the fit. There you go. You have a fab look for half the price.

Are you one of the lucky ones who has a lot of time at hand before d-day? You can then wait for the end of season sales almost all the high end stores including designer stores have atleast two to three times a year. Just scour the sales until you hit pay dirt.
Other Savers
Spend on a great outfit but settle for shoes that costs lesser. Save the limited edition watch for another day and go with what you have. If what you have is too worn out to add to your outfit, borrow one.
The idea once again is to buy smart and not cheap. Patience, as always, is a virtue as you try to find a good bargain. If you are still lost about how to get a high street look for less, just take a female friend or relative along with you.
