Govinda is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood, who began his career with the movie, Love 86, which turned out to be a hit, leading him to be popular amongst others in the 1980s. Over the years, Govinda has proved his mettle and worked in several films. Well, it was in the 2000s when the actor's downfall began, and he was seen in a handful of films. Govinda's last film was released in 2019. In an interview, trade expert, Komal Nahta shared how being superstitious led Govinda to his downfall.
While arriving on Vishal Malhotra’s YouTube channel, Komal Nahta talked about Govinda. He praised the actor and mentioned him to be an institution of talents. Komal also tagged Govinda as an 'all-rounder' and revealed how being superstitious actually led the actor to his downfall. Komal shared how Govinda was too much into astrology, and they would suggest to him what to do and what to avoid.

Komal also revealed a story when an astrologer asked Govinda to avoid pens on the sets, and the actor did exactly the same while filming for the game show, Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke. Komal revealed that the prediction was that a pen might be the cause of spelling doom for him, and perhaps it indicated a journalist, but Govinda took it literally and restricted everyone from bringing a pen on the sets. Komal said:
"He got taken in by astrologers, who would tell him what he can and can’t do. I’ve heard a story; he was told that a pen could spell doom for him, and so, when he was hosting the game show Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke, he banned pens from the set. What that person must’ve meant was that some journalist might write something bad about him, but he took it literally, and he said, ‘Anybody visiting the set, including audiences, will have to deposit their pens outside’.”
In an interview, producer, Pahlaj Nihalani once talked about Govinda's superstitious nature. He revealed how Govinda would often predict stuff on the sets that the chandelier would fall down, or that Kader Khan would drown. Pahlaj revealed that Govinda used to ask people to avoid selective clothes based on his beliefs and even used to avoid doing some things on certain days. Pahlaj mentioned that Govinda's tardiness and gullibility led him towards his downfall. In Pahlaj's words:
"He gradually became more and more superstitious. He was always a little gullible. He would say that the chandelier is about to fall on set, and ask everyone to move aside. Then he would predict that Kader Khan was going to drown. He would instruct people to change their clothes based on his superstitions. He would refuse to do certain things on certain days. All of this, combined with his tardiness and gullibility, led to his downfall.”
It was in the wee hours of October 1, 2024, when Govinda was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU after his gun misfired. If the reports are to be believed, the actor was checking or cleaning his licensed gun before leaving for Kolkata, and that's when the gun fell off and misfired, which led to a serious injury on his leg. Well, later, through an audio message, Govinda thanked his fans for keeping him in his prayers. The actor revealed that he was hit by a bullet, which had been removed from his leg. He also thanked God, his parents, fans, and family members for the well wishes and prayers.
