Actor, Govinda was a popular face in the '80s and '90s, charming audiences with his good looks, acting mettle, and dance skills. It's not a secret that Govinda won the hearts of several fangirls, but in the end, his own was captured by his wife of over 40 years, Sunita Ahuja. The pair tied the knot in 1987 but chose to keep their relationship under wraps for the first few years due to Govinda's acting career. Even after they announced that they were married, Sunita chose to stay away from the limelight, letting her husband shine bright. Recently, she opened up about the ups and downs in the relationship she and Govinda have shared for the past few decades. Sunita also voiced her thoughts on men cheating in a relationship.
Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja recently sat for a candid chat with Hauterrfly, during which she opened up about the tough times in her marriage and her thoughts on men cheating. She emphatically requested women not to be overjoyed by their husbands remaining loyal as the other woman would stick around for years even after they separated. In fact, Sunita is of the opinion that even if a wife were to leave her husband, the other woman would not. She can be quoted as saying:
"I would like to fold my hands and tell women that don't ever say that your partner is innocent (doesn't cheat). If he does it, it will become so bad and no matter how hard you try to get rid of. her, she won't leave him for years. Even if you leave him, that woman won't."
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have spent nearly four decades together, during which time they have been through several ups and downs. She stated that she endured it when things got bad 40 years ago. While Sunita did not refer to any incident in particular, it is likely she was thinking about the time Govinda infamously broke off his engagement with her because he fell in love with his frequent co-star, Neelam.
Sunita was also accompanied by her adoring daughter, Tina, who immediately stuck up for her mother. Calling her beloved mum an 'intense lover,' Tina stated that Sunita had always loved Govinda fiercely. This statement prompted Sunita to pour her heart out, as she said:
"If you love, love with all your heart, otherwise, they can go to hell. If the other person doesn't reciprocate, you should walk the other way."
In a 1990 interview with Stardust, Govinda confessed that he was so in love with Neelam that he had broken off his engagement with his to-be wife, Sunita Ahuja. Talking about how he and Sunita had started having constant fights, Govinda recounted:

"After I started getting busier, my relationship with Sunita went through a change. She began feeling insecure and jealous. And I was of no help. She would nag me and I would lose my temper. We had constant fights. In one of those Fights, Sunita said something about Neelam, and I asked Sunita to leave me. And Sunita did not call me after five days. me into it again, I would probably have married Neelam."
