Gurucharan Singh is known for playing the role of 'Roshan Singh Sodhi' in the popular Indian sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He left the show a few years ago and left the limelight. However, the actor made headlines when he went missing in April 2024. As the police investigated the case, he returned and revealed he was on a religious tour. Recently, the actor gave an interview wherein he shared that he is under a significant debt and has been looking for work.
Gurucharan Singh sat down for an interview with Siddharth Kannan and discussed at length the struggles he is facing. The actor revealed that he is under a significant financial crunch. The situation has been severe to the extent that he had to take loans from different sources which have piled up to a massive sum.

Gurucharan Singh said he owes Rs.60 lakhs to banks and credit card companies. Moreover, he owes a similar amount to individuals who lent him money. As a result, he is under a massive debt of total Rs. 1.2 crores. In his words:
"I have significant debt. I owe Rs 60 lakh to banks and credit card companies. Additionally, some kind people I know have lent me money, and I owe them an equal amount. In total, my debt amounts to nearly Rs 1.2 crore."
The TMKOC mentioned he came to Mumbai from Delhi looking for work. The actor said audiences still love him and want to see him again on-screen. At the same time, he needs money to repay his debt and take care of his old parents. In his words:
"I have been in Mumbai for a month looking for work. I think people love me, and they want to see me. I also want to earn money to manage my expenses, care for my mother and pay off my debts. I want to get some good work and start my second innings. I need money because I have EMI and credit card payments."

Gurucharan Singh gained widespread popularity in Indian households for his role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah wherein he worked for more than a decade. However, the actor left the show during the pandemic. He said he has been struggling since then. Gurucharan revealed he tried his hand at business, but everything failed. As a result, he left food and has been surviving on a liquid diet to meet the ends. He said:
"I have left food for the past 34 days. I have been on a liquid diet like I have milk, chai and coconut water. I have seen only failure for the last four years. I have tried to do different things, businesses and all but everything is failing. Now, I am tired and now I should get some earnings."
Gurucharan Singh made headlines back in April when he went missing for 26 days. The actor was scheduled to board a flight from Delhi to Mumbai on April 22, 2024. However, he didn't board it, and his family couldn't contact him. Soon, a police complaint was filed. However, he suddenly returned on May 18, 2024, and said he was on a spiritual retreat.

After his return, he gave an interview to Bombay Times and mentioned he was feeling low and had gone on a religious journey. He added that he had no plans to return as well. Gurucharan said many people alleged he did it purposely to gain publicity. But he mentioned if that was the purpose, he had other ways to do it, like calling out makers of TMKOC for his pending dues or using social media to make a buzz.
