As per the Hurun India Rich List 2024, Deepinder is the second richest person in Gurugram, behind Nirmal Kumar Minda. On the contrary, Nirmal Kumar Minda surpassed Deepinder Goyal with his whopping net worth of Rs. 30,800 crore, which is almost three times more than the entire wealth of Zomato's CEO. Talking about Nirmal Minda's position in India's billionaires index, he reportedly sits in the 91st position. Some of the renowned billionaires, he has surpassed are the likes of P.V. Ramprasad Reddy, K. Dinesh, Bhadesh Shah, Venu Srinivasan, Prathap Reddy, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, and many more.
For the uninitiated, UNO Minda is one of the world's biggest and leading auto component and system manufacturers. UNO Minda was founded in 1958, and in the last 65 years, they've made their mark in the automotive industry supply chain with their innovative ideas. The company was originally founded by Nirmal Kumar Minda's father, Shadilal Minda, in 1958. Interestingly, it started as a modest garage in Delhi, which used to deal in motorcycle electrical accessories. However, with time, the small garage turned into a company.
Nirmal Kumar Minda joined the family enterprise in 1977 but went his own way after splitting from his brother (name unknown) in the 1990s. After parting ways from his brother, Nirmal Kumar went on to take UNO Minda to unprecedented heights. As of now, UNO Minda Group has a total of 73 manufacturing plants, 30 R&D and Engineering Centres, and 15 Joint ventures with technology partners in different parts of the world.
