It was in the year, 1982, when on December 3, a baby girl had taken her first breath in a Tamil family in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The little girl had developed a liking for dancing in the early years of her childhood, but soon she had left it for pursuing her dream of becoming a cricketer, and the rest is history. The cricketer is none other than the captain of the Indian Women's national cricket team, Mithali Dorai Raj a.k.a, Mithali Raj. There are numerous records and accolades to her name, including the Arjuna Award, Padma Shri, and the Wisden Leading Woman Cricketer in the World.
Mithali Raj is an inspirational figure for all the youngsters across the country, who want to become a cricketer. Because over the years, she has proved her excellence time and again. It was on June 8, 2022, when Mithali Raj had announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket. However, Mithali had promised to her million fans that she would continue to play a crucial role in the betterment of women's cricket in India. In the year, 2018, in an interview with the Mid-Day, former cricketer, Mithali Raj had talked about her marriage plans and had surprisingly revealed that she is happily single and doesn't want to get married. When the legendary skipper was asked about the reason behind it, she had said:
"It (marriage) used to [cross my mind]... long time back, when I was very young. But it doesn't cross [my mind] now when I see married people. I am very happy being single."
In another interview with Sportskeeda, Mithali Raj had revealed that she was involved in some relationships in the past. The cricketer had also shared that she wanted more glory in the coming years and had also revealed whether she would play cricket even after her marriage or not. Answering this, she had said, "This is something that I have not given a thought about. But yes, if I remain fit and get enough support from my family then, of course, why not!" When Mithali Raj was asked whether she had received a lot of male attention or not, as she is such a huge cricketer? On which, Mithali had revealed:
"To be honest, I don't really get attention the same way that the men's team gets from their female fans."

Mithali Raj is quite active on social media, and it is her pictures on her Instagram handle from her training sessions and family time that make her fans go 'aww' in love with her. On June 21, 2020, i.e., Father's Day, the doting daughter had taken to her Instagram handle and had shared a solo picture of the man behind her success, her dearest daddy. Along with the smiling photo of her father, Mithali had penned an emotional note, and it could be read as:
"Happy #FathersDay dad! Not only have you been a doting father but also a mentor, life coach, guide and staunch critic. Life through your lens has always been a set of simple choices, and I am fortunate to have your perspective when I find myself at crossroads #MyDadMyMentor #likefatherlikedaughter."
For the unversed, it was on June 8, 2022, when Mithali Raj had taken to her Instagram handle and had shared a picture in which she had announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket. In her long note, Mithali had thanked BCCI and her massive fanbase for always believing in her and supporting her for the last 23 years. An excerpt from her long note could be read as:
"I set out as a little girl on the journey to wear the India blues as representing your country is the highest honour. The journey was full of highs and some lows. Each event taught me something unique and the last 23 years have been the most fulfilling, challenging & enjoyable years of my life."
Former Indian cricketer, Mithali Raj will always be remembered as one of the greats of the game and her journey will continue to inspire generations.
