The iconic cricketer, Harbhajan Singh, broke a million hearts after he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on December 24, 2021. Harbhajan is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in the history of world cricket, as he holds the record of the second-highest number of Test wickets by an off-spinner. The 41-year-old cricketer had taken 269 wickets in 236 ODIs, 25 scalps in 28 T20Is, and 417 wickets in 103 Tests.
On December 24, 2021, Harbhajan Singh had taken to his Twitter handle and had announced his retirement from cricket, including IPL (Indian Premier League). The cricketer had also shared the link of his farewell video at the bottom of his tweet. In his YouTube video, he had recalled his cricketing career and had thanked everyone for supporting him throughout his career.
"All good things come to an end, and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life, I would like to thank everyone who made this 23-year-long journey beautiful and memorable. My heartfelt thank you Grateful."

On December 24, 2021, Geeta Basra took to her Instagram handle and shared a series of pictures with her husband, Harbhajan Singh, from some of the most special cricketing moments that she had lived with him in recent years. While in some pictures, we can see Harbhajan posing with his wife to the camera donning the blue jersey of the Indian cricket team, other pictures featured some iconic moments from his time in his IPL (Indian Premier League), Mumbai Indians. Although every picture is special, the last photo of little Hinaya melted our hearts in split seconds. The little girl looked super-cute in Chennai Super Kings's cap and gloves.

Along with these memorable pictures, Geeta Basra also penned an emotional note for her husband, Harbhajan Singh, as she reflected on his illustrious cricketing career. The doting wife also recalled Harbhajan's playing days, the superstitions he had done before the game, and admitted that she had learned more about cricket through him. Geeta penned:
"I know how long you waited for this moment.. mentally you had retired a long time ago but officially you were waiting for the right moment. Today I want to say how proud we are of you and what you have achieved ! There is so much more that awaits you on this beautiful road ahead. I will always remember the fun and the excitement along with all the stress and anxiety I had watching you play, the superstitions during every game, the endless prayers, learning the game through you, and celebrating each momentous victory and record you made!"

Going further in the note, Geeta Basra also stated that although it is not the way her husband, Harbhajan Singh, had planned or wanted his retirement, but they both understand the complexity of life. In her heartmelting note, Geeta also stated that she and her daughter, Hinaya were Harbhajan's loudest cheerleaders when he used to play in the stadium. In the end, the doting wife told Harbhajan to keep his head high, as he had given his everything to the Indian cricket team, for which she and millions of Indians are proud of him. She wrote:
"Congratulations on an amazing career Bhaj..not many can boast of playing for 23 years!!! I'm so fortunate to have been a part of your journey through all the ups and downs n thankful that Hinaya got to see her Papa play (we were your loudest fans in the stadium) I know the end was not the way you wanted or planned it but as they say destiny is not in our hands.. you played with grit, passion, fire and with your head held high! Wishing you more success and prosperity in life for the 'doosra' chapter ahead.. the best is yet to come my love @harbhajan3."
