In India, cricket is not just a game, it is a religion! Every era has its own idol, and there was a time when people would stop all their work when Team India's match would telecast on television, especially during MS Dhoni's captainship. However, off-field, there were rumours that MS Dhoni had a lot of rifts with other team members. Recently, Harbhajan Singh revealed he has not been in contact with MS Dhoni for the past ten years.
Recently, in an interaction with SportsNext, Harbhajan was questioned whether he was in contact with Dhoni. The former cricketer, without mincing his words, denied the same and added that it's been more than 10 years they have stopped talking to each other. Harbhajan Singh added that he apparantly has no reason to avoid talking to MS Dhoni, but he believes that he might have some. Harbhajan said:
"Nahi Dhoni se meri baat nahi hoti, CSK mein khel raha tha tab hi baat hoti thi. 10 saal se uper hogya. Mere pass koi reason nahi hai, shayad unke pass ho."
Harbhajan Singh added that he has no anger in him towards MS Dhoni. Harbhajan also added that in the past few years, he never tried contacting Dhoni. He was quoted as saying:
"I don’t have anything against him. If he has something to say, he can tell me. But if he did, he would have told me by now. I never tried to call him because I have a lot of passion. I only ring up those who pick up my calls. I don’t have the time otherwise. I stay in touch with the ones I am friends with. A relationship is always about give and take. If I respect you, I hope you will respect me back. Or you respond to me. But if I call you once or twice but don’t get a response, I will probably only meet you as much as I am needed to."
It is not just Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh is also not on talking terms with MS Dhoni. Earlier, Yuvraj talked about his equation with MS Dhoni. Last year, MS Dhoni appeared on Ranveer Allahabadia's show, and admitted that he and Dhoni 'were friends only because of cricket'. Yuvraj stated that they never had any close bond. He said:
"Me and Mahi are not close friends. We were friends because of cricket, we played together. Mahi's lifestyle was very different from me, so we were never close friends...When me and Mahi went on the ground, we gave more than 100% for our country together. He was the captain, I was the vice-captain...When you are captain and vice-captain, there will be decision differences. Sometimes he made decisions I didn't like, sometimes I made decisions that he didn't like. That happens in every team."
Well, it is definitely heartbreaking to hear your favourite cricketers, who won so many matches together, not on talking terms!
