Hema Malini Feels Uncomfortable As Woman Tries To Touch Her At Mumbai Event: 'Haath Nahi..'

Veteran Bollywood actress, Hema Malini, who is an elected Member of Parliament, was visibly left irked at an event. Hema Malini never loses her cool in front of the media, but one particular incident at an event left her a bit uncomfortable. Talking about Hema Malini's professional front, apart from serving society as an elected MP, she is famous for her Bharatnatyam performances at the age of 75.

Hema Malini was left upset after a woman tried to touch her

On August 21, 2024, Hema Malini was part of an event, which was also attended by  Anup Jalota and other renowned personalities. Several photos and videos from the event have been making rounds, but one video grabbed everyone's attention. In the clip, a woman dressed in white ethnicwear stood with Hema Malini and tried to put her hand on the actress' shoulder for the photo session.

However, Hema Malini wasn't in a mood to get touched by anyone. So, she simply she refused the lady to touch her as she visibly looked uncomfortable with the gesture. She was quick to say, "Haath Nahi.." And the woman moved her hand aside.

Netizens react to Hema Malini's discomfort

As soon as the video was uploaded, netizens flooded the comments section. RJ Malishka understood Hema's discomfort and wrote, "Don’t touch people without CONSENT. If they are uncomfortable they are. This is not attitude this is decency and space. Just because we see someone on screen a certain way doesn’t mean for a minute that they are not real people who are uncomfortable being touched by strangers without consent."

Another user came in support of Hema Malini and commented, "Nothing wrong here. Even I wouldn’t like a stranger putting her hand on my shoulder. People need to understand boundaries and personal space." 

However, a section of people trolled Hema Malini for her gesture. One user wrote, "These guys are not really down to earth personalities they show off to be on screen." Another netizen commented, "Shame these bollywood oldies age with so much anger."

 

When Hema Malini performed to celebrate Mirabai Janmotsav

For those who don't know, Hema Malini is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, and while she has stopped acting, her love for nritya (dance) never stopped, and even at the age of 75, she continues to perform on stage. In November 2023, Hema Malini performed a dance-drama on the 525th Janmotsav of Sant Mirabai in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Celebrating her life, Hema Malini presented a one-and-a-half hour-long dance drama based on her life.

Hema Malini is married to the yesteryear superstar, Dharmendra. The couple is blessed with two daughter, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. For the unversed, Hema and Dharmendra's relationships survived the rollercoasters of life because they always tried harder to understand each other. When Hema Malini made an appearance at Kapil Sharma's comedy show with her daughter, Esha Deol. During one of the segments of the show, Hema Malini revealed the importance of cooking. She shared that in the year initial years of her marriage, she never cooked for Dharmendra.
