Hailed as the 'Dream Girl' of Bollywood, Hema Malini was every man’s dream woman. One of the top actresses of her time, Hema made her debut as a dancer in a Tamil film. In 1968, when she made her Hindi film debut with the film, Sapno Ka Saudagar and won the love of many. Hema never let her marriage affect her career, as she continued working even after her wedding to Dharmendra.
In a recent press conference, Hema Malini talked about her take on women working after marriage. When she was asked about the change in work culture as women are now working even after marriage, unlike during her time, the veteran actress said:
“I will not react to this much because I never stopped, I got married and continued working non-stop. So perhaps people saw me and are following me. It's nice, the husband should understand that the woman whom he married, she is a very talented person and people love to watch.”

In the same interaction, Hema Malini also stated that a wife has to sacrifice sometimes as she cannot have a child immediately. In her words:
“But the wife has to sacrifice a little, being a wife. She cannot immediately produce a child, then you know there is a stop. So if you are at that age and you are ready to work then why not. If the producers are ready to sign you for such a huge amount and all then great."
With more than 200 films, Hema Malini’s contribution to Indian cinema is remarkable. From movies like Seeta Aur Geeta, Sanyasi, Dharmatma, Pratigya, Sholay, Trishul and many more, she has given some stellar performances in her career. The South Indian beauty tied the knot with the Punjab da gabru, Dharmendra in a nikah ceremony on May 2, 1979. The couple has two beautiful daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.

Dharmendra and Hema had acted together in 42 movies, and their on-screen chemistry was always a hit. Once in an interview, Hema Malini shared that it was the song, Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana, wherein she had fallen for Dharmendra. She also revealed that it was his cute dance moves in the song, which had made her fall in love with him immediately.
Hema Malini and Dharmendra have reinstated our faith in love and marriage. It was rumoured that while shooting a particular scene in Sholay, Dharmendra had lured the light boys with money to disturb the lights on the set. The continuous retakes had given him many chances to hold Hema Malini several times.
On the work front, Hema Malini was last seen in the film, Shimla Mirchi!
