Himani Shivpuri Shares Unknown Details About Alok Nath, 'He Was A Different Person After Few Drinks'

Himani Shivpuri and Alok Nath are amongst the most admired actors in Bollywood. They played supporting roles in several successful films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Chand Ke Paar Chalo and more from the 90s and became a household name. Himani played playful and motherly characters in family dramas, while Alok Nath is known to play fatherly roles. The latter became popular due to his sanskari roles, which emphaised on Indian values. Himani is presently working in TV while Alok Nath has left the showbiz. In a new interview, Himani Shivpuri revealed some shocking details about Alok Nath's behavior and how he is different from his on-screen characters. 

Himani Shivpuri compares Alok Nath with 'Jekyll and Hyde'

Alok Nath played an ideal father in several iconic Bollywood films from the 90s. His teachings on Indian culture, values, respect and family bonds are etched in the minds of audiences. Moreover, he inspired several memes with his sanskari characters in recent years. However, his former co-star, Himani, recently appeared on Siddharth Kannan's podcast and shared shocking details about him. She revelead that Alok Nath was similar to his on-screen image when he was not drinking. However, he became a different person after a few drinks. She was quoted as saying:

"I have done a lot of work with him in the past and the thing with him is that when he is not drinking, then he is sanskari. His personality was like that of Jekyll and Hyde."

Further, Himani shared that Alok Nath once created a stir after consuming alcohol while filming Hum Aapke Hain Koun. She explained that the latter was usually quiet and professional on the film sets. However, as soon as the clock struck 8, another side of his personality used to come to the forefront. Himani mentioned one more incident wherein she travelled with Alok Nath and his wife, and he went out of control under the influence of alcohol, while his wife constantly asked him to be calm. However, the actress said she didn't face any problems while working with him apart from one incident. In her words:

"Apart from one incident in the National School of Drama (NSD), I have never faced any problem with him. But I would hear from people that he was a different person after a few drinks. In fact, I had once witnessed it. He was drunk and out of control while we were travelling for an award show, and his wife kept asking him to be calm. Even I asked him to get a grip on himself or else he would be deplaned. He was deplaned once in the past because of his behaviour."

Alok Nath left showbiz after facing ‘MeToo’ allegations 

Alok Nath began his career through television with Rishte-Naate in 1980. The actor had a long and illustrious career in films and TV shows until his last film, De De Pyaar De, was released in 2019. He abruptly left the industry after he was accused of sexual harassment by several actresses during Bollywood's 'MeToo' movement in 2018-19.

The allegation was levelled against him by writer-producer, Vinta Nanda, who publicly accused him of sexual assault. She reported that it lasted for nearly two decades. Following her, actresses, Navneet Nishan and Sandhya Mridul also accused him of sexual assault. Alok Nath and his wife, filed a defamation case against Vinita Nanda, and she filed a counter FIR. However, the case was closed in 2019 due to lack of evidence. After denying the allegations, he went missing from the limelight. Later, he did appear but has maintained a low profile since then.
