Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai had a killer on-screen chemistry in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar. Aishwarya played the Rajput queen, Jodha, while Hrithik essayed the role of the Mughal emperor, Akbar. However, it was believed that in those days, her fans were not happy seeing the actress perform intimate scenes with Hrithik. An old video has gone viral where Farhan Akhtar could be seen teasing the actor about his intimate scenes with Aishwarya. Farhan even reminded Hrithik that he had not been invited to the actress's wedding with Abhishek.
Hrithik and Aishwarya's palpable chemistry in Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar showed how love continued to shine brightly through the ages as a symbol of mutual respect, tolerance and open-mindedness between a man and woman, husband and wife. A video on Reddit went viral, where Farhan could be seen telling Hrithik about the intimate scenes he had done in the magnum opus. Farhan said:

Matlab bare-bodied, you know, struggling to get on top of each other. “Aur humne suna hai ki shooting hone ke baad voh co-star aapse kaafi naraaz bhi the. Hrithik's expressions are a must-watch as he cannot stop smiling and being shocked as seen in the video. One user on Reddit commented, "I don’t wanna point out instances and give fodder but Bachchan and even Ashwariya post the wedding was extremely smug and arrogant. Did mad amounts of pr."
Aishwarya and Abhishek married on April 20, 2007. When she was shooting for Jodhaa Akbar, she was engaged. In an earlier interview with Filmfare, she remembered when she had to sit as a bride in front of Hrithik. 'Duggu' a.k.a Hrithik had reacted by giving her a thumbs up.
She said:
“We’re doing Khawja mere Khwaja, sitting as a bride, and I am like, oh my God this is surreal, all happening on-screen, off-screen, this is bizarre. Ashutosh is like you are engaged and I am like yeah."
The popularity of Hrithik and Aishwarya rose with Jodhaa Akbar and Dhoom 2. However, Ash once revealed how she came under the public radar because of the passionate kissing scene she did in Dhoom 2. It was in 2012 when the actress, in an interview with the Daily Mail, spoke about how she had got multiple notices because of her kissing scene. The actress said:

"I did it once prominently in the movie Dhoom and it was so topical, and you’ll be surprised, I mean I actually got a couple of notices, legal notices, from some people in the country turning around and saying , you are iconic, you’re an example to our girls you have led your life in such an exemplary manner, they’re not comfortable with you doing this on screen so why did you?"
