Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor's linkup rumours made rounds in the media back in 2001 during the shooting of their film, Yaadein. However, a rumour made rounds that Hrithik was caught coochie-cooing with Kareena Kapoor on an aircraft, and it was just before the actor got married to his childhood sweetheart, Sussanne Khan. In an interview with Subhash K Jha, Hrithik talked about the same.

When asked about an article claiming that he was caught with Kareena Kapoor in a plane days before his marriage, Hrithik said that such a rumour had made him super upset. The Krrish actor mentioned that he had read the article, and as per it, some air hostess had witnessed him and the actress on the plane. The actor said:
"That really upset me. Those who are respected in the media should understand their responsibilities and shouldn’t stoop to baseless gossip. I was very upset when I read Shobha De’s article about me and Kareena coochie-cooing in an aircraft. Some airhostesses were even supposed to have seen us."
Hrithik further questioned if he was that stupid to be coochie-cooing someone in a place where hundreds of people were standing in a queue for his autograph and wanting to take photos with him. Hrithik can be quoted as saying:
"Even if I was having an affair with Kareena, am I so stupid as to be coochie-cooing with her on the plane? When I’m in a plane people from the economy class form a queue to take my autograph. I spend my time standing in the cabin-crew area giving autographs and having my picture taken with others on-board. How stupid to think I’d be coochie cooing anyone with hundreds of people demanding my attention."

As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, when such a rumour about Hrithik and Kareena made rounds on social media, Rakesh Roshan also reacted to it. Rakesh said that the story was fabricated and it was made to malign his son. Rakesh also added that the timing of this story was itself suspicious as back then, Hrithik and Kareena were shooting in London for Yaadein. He also stated that his son and Kareena are just friends and nothing more than that.

In an interview with Rendezvous with Simi Garewal in 2002, Kareena Kapoor was asked about her linkup rumours with Hrithik Roshan. Simi asked Kareena if the 'nasty comments' about her had affected her in any way. To this, Kareena said that anything that was being written about her surely made her upset, but as both of their families were well aware of the truth, it didn't matter. She also added that all the rumours were like a joke to her. Kareena mentioned that she wouldn't let the rumours come in between her and Hrithik's friendship as they share a great bond.
