Hurun Rich List of 2024 was released on August 29, 2024, and it instantly broke the headlines as it featured a lot of surprises. This year's list has found 1539 people with an estimated wealth of 1,000 crores or more, of which 272 names are added. Comparing India's billionaire count to last year, it has risen by 29 per cent, leading the count to the mark of 334. Razorpay's founders, Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur are the youngest billionaires on the list at the age of 33. While Zepto's Kaivalya Vohra is the youngest entrant on the list at 21, his partner, Aadit Palicha is the second youngest at 22.
Another major surprise in this year's Hurun Rich List is the inclusion of Bollywood's King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan. Yes! You read it right. The superstar made his debut in the Hurun Rich List at the age of 58 with a whopping net worth of Rs. 7,300 crore. The oldest debutant on the list is Hanwantbir Kaur Sahney, who made it to the list at the age of 95. Amidst the clash between individuals, Indian states also locked horns, while Mumbai topped the list of having the most billionaires with 386, New Delhi came second with 217, Hyderabad in third with 104, Bengaluru in fourth place with 100, and Chennai in fifth with 82.

Talking about the person who topped the list as India's richest is the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani. Many people thought it would be Reliance Industries Limited's chairman, Mukesh Ambani, but the billionaire is in second place. Back in 2023, Adani's wealth declined by 57 per cent to Rs. 4.74 lakh crore due to the Hindenburg Research.
