The 10-match winning streak of the Indian cricket team ended in the final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19, 2023, leaving an entire nation traumatised. The Australian team defeated an in-form Indian team by six wickets and lifted their 6th World Cup trophy in front of 1.3 lakh spectators. After a bright start to the game by Rohit Sharma, who scored 47 runs in 31 balls, all was on Virat Kohli, who responded on the day with his vital innings of 53 runs in 63 balls.
However, after his dismissal, when everything seemed lost, KL Rahul saved India from further embarrassment by holding his ground and scoring 66 runs in 107 balls. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami sent David Warner home in just 7 runs and with Jasprit Bumrah taking crucial wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Steven Smith, India's bowling attack was doing what was expected of them.
