Industrialist, Pankaj Oswal is often praised for his entrepreneurial endeavours, but this time, he is dominating headlines for all the wrong reasons. He shared a post on social media claiming that his 26-year-old daughter, Vasundhara, has been illegally detained in Uganda, where she is being restricted from contacting her family and even denied basic human rights.
Executive director of PRO Industries, Pankaj Oswal accuses the Uganda government of illegally detaining his daughter, Vasundhara, over false charges of "corporate and political manipulation." Oswal claims that the charges against his daughter are all fake and stemmed from false allegations made by a former employee who stole valuables and a USD 200,000 loan from the Oswal family as guarantors.

Pankaj Oswal added that Vasundhara has been imprisoned since October 1, 2024, without trial and is not even allowed to contact her family. He said that despite a court order for her unconditional release, the Uganda police had issued inadmissible charges to prevent her release on bail. They have even snatched her phone and have unlawfully detained her without evidence. The note further read as:
"Not letting her be in touch with her family and lawyers and also snatching her phone from her, causing her to have an anxiety attack, which they did not acknowledge. This all while she is still being unlawfully detained with no evidence against her."
Talking to EU Reporter, Pankaj Oswal's wife, Radhika Oswal, shared that her daughter's arrest is her nightmare and that, too, is a foreign jail without evidence. She added that in the prison, her daughter is snatched to basic human rights. She emphasised that her daughter is innocent and she wants her to return home safe and sound. In Radhika's words:
"This is every mother’s nightmare. My young daughter has been thrown into a foreign jail. She has been stripped of her basic human rights and her dignity. Vasundhara is an innocent bystander. All I want is her safety, and for her to be back in my arms."
According to a report, Vasundhara Oswal is credited with several expansion projects in PRO Industries and has also made significant strides in reducing the company's debt, thereby ensuring its financial stability. She has also launched new sustainability initiatives. Her role at the company involves investment agency, finance management, and government liaising, according to the company's website.
