When you are bored and scroll through reels, the Instagram algorithm is such that it will always show you 'Get Ready With Me' videos on your feed. For the unversed, this 'GRWM' trend is where social media creators will walk you through the process of getting ready for an event. They would show you coming out of a bathroom, towel wrapped, to showcase their innerwear and then the clip moves to the outfit of the day, night, applying makeup. Now, a video creator named, Drishty Shaw has slammed everyone making 'GRWM' videos where they displayed their innerwear.
An influencer named, Drishty Shaw, whose Instagram bio talks about having a conversation that is not a trend. According to her page, she influences people by giving them the right direction and perspective to look at things differently. Now, 'Get Ready With Me' videos mainly start with content creators showing off their innerwear. The influencer gave an opinion on why creators showed off their innerwear or cleavage while making the videos. She was clad in a black saree and said:
"Ok unpopular opinion but jo log yeh get ready with me videos banare hai by wearing innerwear in their first frame or by referring to cleavage showing in the first frame,. Bhai yeh kaunsi audience hai jinhe batana padh raha hai ki jab get ready hote hai sabse pehle inner wear pehente hai. But congratulations on the views."
A netizen thought that the influencer wore saree on purpose to put a point across and agreed that 'Get Ready With Me' videos with people in their innerwear is a little too much. The user felt that people would not like to see that but would be interested in seeing the final outcome. The user wrote, "I don’t think innerwear is something u show to people. it is called innerwear for a reason. I do feel they do it for little attention tbh. if their sole purpose was to show what they are wearing they would do that instead of showing their innerwear."
Another one opined that we live in a culture where women are objectified all the time, and even on social media. The user wrote, "I don't like her holier-than-thou tone. People do all sorts of things for views; I am sure she does also, there is no need to blame those girls for it. But what she does is talent, and what they do is not? Please. That's the currency of social media these days and women are just responding to it. Blame the men who watch those videos." A user also noted that based on outfits, it was important to showcase innerwear and also expressed that despite clicking on not interested the videos pop up because of viewership.
For the unversed, whether it is content creators, social media influencers or celebrities, the trend of GRWM clips is all about engaging with your audience and the need to interact with them.
