It is that time of the year when the entire nation is in the festive mood and despite being present at the office physically, all we can daydream about the card parties and Diwali bashes we have to attend at the night. And B-town celebs are no different. While some celebrities prefer celebrating it with late-night parties, some love spending quality and peaceful time with their closed ones. While the last two years had the Bachchan clan celebrating Diwali in a quiet celebration at home, this year it is a grand celebration for the family at Jalsa. In 2018, Amitabh Bachchan had given a sneak peek of the Diwali celebration with wife, Jaya Bachchan, son, Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and granddaughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. Amitabh ji had tweeted, “Shubham karoti kalyanam, aarogyam dhan sampadaa, shatru buddhi vinaashaya, deep jyoti namostutey. Diwali greetings of love and happiness.”
When we talk about a grand celebration in B-town, how can we forget the Bachchans? Every occasion is celebrated like a grand affair by the star family and the same was Diwali bash. The Bachchans celebrated Diwali at their residence, Jalsa after almost 2 years and it was indeed a star-studded affair. From Shah Rukh Khan, Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor to Shahid Kapoor, you name the celebrity and they were present at the #bachchanskidiwali bash. We couldn't take our eyes off the grand celebration at Jalsa. Scroll down to witness the glimpses of the grand celebrations:
A Times Of India report had suggested that Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan will be hosting a Diwali bash at their home, Jalsa. A Filmfare report had stated that in 2017, because of the demise of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's father, the clan had not hosted the party at Jalsa. And in 2018, because Shweta Bachchan Nanda's father-in-law had passed away, there was no Diwali bash at Jalsa. The guest list was speculated to be Ajay Devgn and Kajol, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt amongst many others.
Last year, the Diwali celebrations of the Bachchan clan didn’t go well with the netizens and they were mercilessly trolled by their fans. Amitabh Bachchan had posted pictures wherein he, Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan could be seen celebrating the festival of lights by burning crackers. The Bachchan parivaar was trolled for not contributing towards a pollution-free Diwali and bursting crackers. While one user commented, “Burning crackers this Diwali! Not cool at all...#pollutionfreediwali”, another one wrote, “Please stop using crackers ...not even a single phuljhadi.”Some even posted comments in the form of a request, “Sir please do not burn crackers. You are our role model. We learn things from you sir..... This is a humble request.” Whereas some were angry, “Amitabh ji pollution kar rahe hai...#save_environment.” Checkout some of the comments on social media:
On October 11, 2019, Amitabh Bachchan had turned 77 and his doting children, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had made sure to make it extra special for him by posting heartfelt wishes. While Aishwarya had posted a grandfather-granddaughter picture to wish Big B and had written, "Happy 77th Birthday Pa-Dadaji God Bless and Love you Always." Abhishek had shared a black-and-white picture to wish his ‘Pa’ along with the words, "To the main man!!!! Happy birthday. Love you." Shweta had shared a super-adorable throwback picture of herself with her papa, and had written, "When you get to the top of the mountain, keep climbing- Happy Birthday Papa I love you endlessly."
The Bachchan clan has most of the times been on the receiving end of the trolls and negativity from the netizens, be it targeting Abhishek for living with his parents or trolling Aishwarya and Aaradhya for walking hand-in-hand. Revealing how such hatred doesn’t bother him but it only affects him because he realises that it must be hard on his parents, Amitabh ji and Jaya ji, Abhishek had remarked in an interview with a media portal, "At the start of my career, I was very confused when people were dedicating so much time and energy talking about the privilege that was afforded to me because of the home I was born. First and foremost, I did not choose the family I was born. It used to affect me because I used to feel bad for my parents."
Junior B had continued, "At the end of the day, I'm a professional. I do something which evokes a response from the public and I'm well aware of that and perfectly fine with it. They are also actors that work in the same industry as their son. I am not going to equate myself to their talent. But as a parent, I think it must be terrible for them to go through all this. I can take care of myself, I am 42. But I'm still their child. I'm the youngest in the family."
