Thus, her presence at the inauguration of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center (NMACC) in 2023 turned quite a few heads. Ira, who attended the event with her father, Aamir, also caught the eye of netizens for all the wrong reasons. The keyboard warriors brutally trolled her due to the ensemble she donned for the formal affair. Now, more than a year later, Ira has finally opened up about the reason behind her casual attire, and surprisingly, her father was to be blamed.
Ira Khan recently had a candid chat with Pinkvilla, during which she discussed her overly casual outfit for the NMACC inauguration. According to the embarrassed star kid, her dad, Aamir Khan, was at fault as he never clued her into the fact that it was a fancy event. Ira said:
"I had no idea that Nick Jonas was going to be there. My father doesn't communicate well when it comes to event invites. He just calls and says, 'Hey, we have to go for this. Come.' He doesn't tell you any of these things so I show up in the best dress I can take. were going for such a fancy event. I didn't know what we were going for. I was like, 'Oh my God!'"
Following the event, Ira Khan posted a picture with Nick Jonas, which soon went viral. It was this infamous picture that had netizens flooding her comment section with messages like, "Your outfits were the worst outfits by far." Some even accused her of borrowing a friend's dress, which had been worn for Ira's own engagement. Well, Ira opened up about why she approached Nick for a photo, even though she usually doesn't bother celebs, saying:
"I went up to him and said, 'Hey, I don't do this. I don't go up to people and ask for photo because I know how irritating it is, but literally my best friend was supposed to marry you so I have to take this photo for the five-year-old us."
Ira also shared Nick's reaction to her request with Pinkvilla. According to her, the singer and hubby of Priyanka Chopra was 'very chill about it.' Ira further elaborated on how she had asked him silly questions after getting their picture clicked. She said:
"Then I went on to ask him stupid questions like, 'How did you like the weather here?' It was baseless because he had been here several times."
For the unversed, the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center inauguration was one of India's biggest events in 2023. The opening ceremony saw not only a whole host of renowned personalities from within the country but also some of the most popular names from around the world. Well-known figures like Tom Holland-Zendaya, Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas, Gigi Hadid, and Penelope Cruz, among others, were in attendance.
