Isha shares her take on the Bollywood age gap controversy

Isha shared that she feels discomfort in romancing a 30 or 20-year-old actor than her on-screen. Adding to the ongoing age gap controversy, she felt uncomfortable hugging or getting paired opposite senior male actors. The LOC Kargil actress feels that the actors should take roles and act according to their age. She was quoted as saying:

"You do feel uncomfortable when you work with someone 30 or 20 years older than you. I felt uncomfortable when I was working with elderly heroes. You don't get the feeling like you are hugging your partner or lover, you feel like you are hugging your father. I used to feel that. I was new, I thought this was the norm. You are an actor; you focus on your part and forget they are elderly."

Rise of age gap controversy in Bollywood

Senior actors romancing actresses much younger than them has always been a topic of debate in Bollywood. However, it picked up pace in the last couple of years when netizens discussed the age difference between male and female co-stars. The pairing of 49-year-old Nawazuddin Siddiqui and 21-year-old Avneet Kaur in Tiku Weds Sheru and 26-year-old Manushi Chhillar with then 56-year-old Akshay Kumar in Samrat Prithviraj particularly drew more attention, further igniting the controversy. While Manushi asserted that she doesn't mind being cast opposite older superstars like Akshay, Nawazuddin on the other hand, brushed off the issue, adding that the young men have no romance left.
