Popular actress, Ishita Dutta is happily married to another eminent actor, Vatsal Sheth. The lovebirds tied the knot in November 2017 and are blessed with a baby boy, whom they lovingly named Vaayu. The doting parents, being avid social media users, they keep sharing lovely glimpses of their merry lives on their social media handles. However, just like many other newbie mommies, Ishita too, went through the emotions of post-partum depression, and now, she opened up about her experience.
Taking to her recent Vlog on her YouTube channel, Ishita Dutta talked about her post-partum depression battle. The actress, who embraced motherhood in July 2023, stressed on the importance of understanding and support from family members during such challenging times for new mothers. She mentioned that even though some may think that terms, such as 'post-partum depression' are mere tantrums of the new mothers, she had faced it herself. Recalling her terrible experiences, she said:
“One thing in particular that I want to talk about is postpartum depression. Yes, yes, I know. There will be a lot of comments now of women saying, ‘we have given birth to five children. We haven't faced all these. Yeh sab aaj kal ke chonchle hai’. I am sorry, but this is something that we are going through. This is something that we are experiencing and feeling. We are not making it up. Most women go through it. I used to cry for hours not knowing what happened. I would feel terrible.”

In the same conversation, Ishita further shared that she used to cry for hours without even realising the real reason behind the same. Thus, at that time, her husband, Vatsal took a major step by bringing her out so that she could take a break from the mommy chores. However, they used to be at a little distance from their son, so that they can return home whenever needed. Ishita shared:
“And Vatsal was like, I have to take you out. And initially I didn't go. I used to think, how can I leave my baby and go? I can't. And then he said, don't worry, he's going to be fine. There are so many people at home. We used to feed him and we used to leave. And sometimes we used to leave and if there was a call that Vaayu is crying, we used to come back because we obviously didn't go far. So this is something that happened with me. Postpartum depression really hit me very bad and I got out of it because of the support of family and husband.”
Earlier, on November 21, 2023, Ishita served pure goals for many new moms when she went on her first trip to London without her son, Vaayu. Taking to her IG handle, she had shared a few pictures of her as she was found enjoying her 'me time'. However, she constantly felt mom's guilt for leaving her child at home, and she addressed the same in the captions of her photos. She shared:
“First trip post pregnancy, first trip without Vaayu and my first trip to London. I laughed, I cried, I ate, I slept, I danced, I walked, I shopped and I finally felt like myself again…Yes I was dipped in moms guilt and yes I did have fun and yes I will do this from time to time for myself, but all this happened only cause of my amazing husband, my parents and in-laws who gave me the confidence to leave my 4 month old. Thanku for making this happen and Thanku for pushing me to do this for myself…”

In January 2024, Ishita Dutta and Vatsal Sheth hosted an intimate rice-eating ceremony, also known as annaprashan ceremony for their son, Vaayu. After the celebration, taking to their IG handle, they dropped adorable glimpses from the same function, in a collaborative post. In the glimpses, Vaayu looked cute as a button in a yellow kurta and white pyjama, while he was seated on his maternal uncle’s lap and his mommy was showering him with kisses. In other glimpses, we spotted the baby boy's grandfather adoring him, and also a plate full of delicious Bengali food served to him. In addition, the doting parents also celebrated their baby boy's six-month birthday with a delicious cake, especially for their son. Along with the pictures, the doting parents penned:
“Happy 6 months my baby. Vaayu’s Annaprashan ceremony. For those who don’t know it’s a Bengali traditional ceremony which also known as the rice ceremony where solid food is introduced to the baby by his mama for the first time. Off course the baby is too small to eat so we only touch the food to introduce him to flavours.”
