Jackie Shroff is one of the most talented actors ever witnessed in Indian cinema. Even at the age of 66, the actor is continuing to shed his magic on the celluloid with some of the most iconic performances. Fondly known as ‘Jaggu dada’ by many in the film industry, he has delivered some iconic films in Bollywood, such as Hero, Ram Lakhan, Allah Rakha, Trimurti among many others. Fast forward to now, Jackie would be making his comeback after many years on the silver screen, alongside Neena Gupta in the film, Mast Mein Rehna Ka.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Jackie Shroff recalled his initial days of career in Bollywood and revealed how he was purposely made to stay secluded from the rest. Since he didn’t really come from a privileged background or had previous connections, it was only his hard work and dedication that made him reach the top of the ladder. Recalling how he wasn’t even invited to parties, Jackie revealed he instead used to just focus on the work that he did. In his words:
“Mai kaam hi kar raha, bass aur kuch mujhe dikh hi nahi raha tha. Maa ke pair daba, kaam kar aur soja. Mai sochta hi nahi tha. Kyu ki mai jab teen batti me rehta tha tab bhi log bolte the, mujhe party me bhi nahi bulate the. Aaj bhi nahi bulaate par uss waqt bhi nahi bulaate the. Unka dil hai par apun apna chalte raho. Pehle toh bulate hi nahi the, bolte the ‘aree yaar isko kya bula raha hai yaar.”

For the unversed, Jackie Shroff’s actual name is Jai Kishan Kakubhai Shroff. However, over the years, his name has been shortened and is now known to everyone as Jackie. In one of his earlier interviews with Bollywood Hungama, the actor talked about how he came to be known by his stage name, ‘Jackie’ and not his real name, ‘Jai Kishan’. He mentioned:
“I had a classmate in school, who came from Hong Kong or Dubai. He felt that Jaikishan was a long name, so he told me that we should have some fun with it. He started calling me Jai-ki, and from there, it evolved to Jackie. My name has kept changing, but I’m still the same.”
Following in his footsteps, Jackie Shroff’s son, Tiger Shroff has also ventured into Bollywood, and undoubtedly, he has created a massive fan following of his own. But did you know, the latter once did something really special for his father? Well, elaborating on the same, Jackie Shroff, in one of his previous interviews Bollywood Bubble, talked about the proudest moment of his life. The veteran actor recalled how he lost his house after going bankrupt, and added that it was his son, Tiger who brought it back with his own hard-earned success in the film industry.

Jackie Shroff’s son, Tiger Shroff was previously in a long-time relationship with actress, Disha Patani. Not just frequent co-stars, the duo were quite serious with one another and was particularly close to each other’s family. However, it was back in June 2022 that the duo broke up due to reasons best known to them. While they never really talked about the same, it was Tiger’s father, Jackie Shroff who opened up about the same. He had mentioned:
“They have always been friends and are still friends. I have seen them go out together. Not that I keep track of my son’s love life. That’s the last thing I want to do, like infringe into their privacy. But I feel that they are thick buddies. They spend time with each other besides work. See, it is up to them whether they are together or not, whether they are compatible (with each other) or not. It is their love story, like me and my wife (Ayesha) have our love story.”
