Jagdeep Dhankhar Schools Jaya Over Name Controversy, She Says 'Inke Aage Patni Ka Naam Laga Dijiye'

Jaya Bachchan, the much-loved actress in the Hindi film industry, recently sparked a ray of controversy after she refused to be called 'Jaya Amitabh Bachchan' in Rajya Sabha. Jaya is an MP from Samajwadi Party since 2004. Well, she left everyone surprised when she angrily reacted to being associated with her husband's name. A day later, she again took a hilarious dig at the name controversy. And yet again, she got irked by being labelled as 'Jaya Amitabh Bachchan', and now, she has been schooled by Rajya Sabha Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Jagdeep Dhankhar schools Jaya Bachchan as she refused to be addressed with Amitabh's name

In a recent video, which has been going viral, Jagdeep Dhankhar can be seen addressing Jaya as 'Smt Jaya Amitabh Bachchan'. To this, the actress mentioned, "Sir, aapko Amitabh ka matlab pata hai na?" Jagdeep Dhankhar stopped Jaya and mentioned that she should change her name if she wants to be addressed only as 'Jaya Bachchan'.

The actress tried to keep her part, but Jagdeep Dhankhar explained that there's a procedure to change the name that one has put on the election certificate. He also mentioned that he himself had changed his name back in 1989, and it's available for every member, so Jaya should change her name officially then. For the unversed, in the nomination letter, the actress' name is registered as 'Jaya Amitabh Bachchan'. 

Jaya Bachchan says she is proud of her husband's achievements, but 'it's wrong'

Coming back to what happened in Rajya Sabha today, the actress then continued to explain her part and mentioned that she is extremely proud of her husband, Amitabh, and his achievements, which signifies the charm that can never be diminished. Jaya said that this 'drama' started recently, and it had not been there before.

Later, Jagdeep Dhankhar shared that the entire nation is proud of Amitabh Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan then got up and laughed it off by adding, "Sir, inke naam ke age patni ke naam laga dijiye". She also added that she's not against this, but according to her, it's incorrect. Amid the discussion, Jagdeep Dhankhar added that he himself often tagged himself with his wife's name.

Jaya Bachchan took a hilarious dig at her name controversy

Earlier, a video went viral from Rajya Sabha, wherein Jaya Bachchan could be seen conversing with Jagdeep Dhankhar. Well, Jaya took a dig at the controversy surrounding her name and asked Jagdeep Dhankhar if he had lunch. Jaya could be heard as saying:

"Sir, mai Jaya Amitabh Bachchan aapse puchti hoon ki. Did you get a lunch today?"

For the unversed, it all began on July 29, 2024, when Jaya was left angry after being associated with Amitabh Bachchan's name. As Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman, Harivansh Narayan Singh said, "Shrimati Jaya Amitabh Bachchan ji, please..." the actress got angry and mentioned that only Jaya Bachchan would have been enough.
