It was a few months after Sridevi’s demise, her elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor had made her debut in Bollywood and since then, she has been working round the clock. With the pandemic lockdown, everyone got a chance to slow down in life and spend some quality time with their families. Janhvi too, made the most of this time and is spending her quarantine with father, Boney Kapoor and sister, Khushi Kapoor. The lockdown has made her realise that people of the house depend on her a lot more since her mom, Sridevi’s demise.
In an interview with the Filmfare, Janhvi Kapoor opened up on becoming the lady of the house post her mother, Sridevi’s demise and remarked, “I don’t think I have become the lady of the house because I'm very childish. But during this lockdown, I'm understanding how much people at home depend on me a lot more. Because I haven't been home this much for the past 2 years. Now all of sudden I'm keeping track of what Papa is eating, or why Khushi is sleeping so long, and how they are going to get vegetables and if they are sanitizing everything properly or what the protocols are. I was thinking If I wasn't here I don't know what would have been happening. I think they would have managed. I think the responsibility has just dawned on me that they do depend on me a bit.” (Also Read: Janhvi Kapoor Opens Up On Her Bond With Sister, Khushi Kapoor, Calls Her Sensible And Protective)

The fans believe that with acting talent, Janhvi Kapoor has also inherited impressive fashion sense from her mother, Sridevi and she has been charming her way into the hearts of the audience with her passion and love for her work. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Janhvi Kapoor had commented on the constant comparison with her late mother. When asked if she feels the pressure to match up to her mother’s stature, Janhvi had stated, “I think people need to accept that I’m a different person from my mother. There’s a section of society which has been able to do that with Dhadak, but there are people who couldn’t make that differentiation and they still look for Sridevi in me. Maybe after more of my work comes out, they’ll understand I’m a different type of actor and I’ll make different choices.”
When asked, “If given a chance, would you want to recreate her magic onscreen in the remake of any of her films?” Janhvi Kapoor had retorted, “I don’t think that anyone can recreate that magic. No one can. Also, when something has been done so well, I don’t know if it’s right to try to attempt to do it again.” Speaking about the nepotism debate being at peak during her debut in Bollywood, Janhvi had said, “Hopefully, my work will do that. I know for some, Dhadak wasn’t reason enough to end the debate. I don’t deny nepotism does exist. It’s a reality in our industry, and every other profession. The doctor that I visit, his son is also a doctor but no one is holding a morcha outside their clinic that ‘Nahin yeh toh nepotism hai, main nahin aane wala yahan ilaaj ke liye’. I understand there’s a sense of alienation and a bit of judgment.” (Also Read: Sridevi Had Named Her Daughter, Janhvi Kapoor After This Character From Her Hit Film)
