Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of eminent producer, Boney Kapoor and his legendary actress-wife, Sridevi, is undoubtedly one of the prominent names in Bollywood. She debuted in 2018 and has tried her best to impress the audience with her on-screen performances since then. At present, Janhvi is busy promoting her upcoming film, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, co-starring Rajkummar Rao, and in one of her interviews, she recalled her late mother’s advice related to her career.
Jahnvi Kapoor, along with co-star, Rajkummar Rao, recently had a candid conversation with Karan Johar on Dharma Productions’ YouTube channel. During the conversation, when KJo said that his parents never wanted him to be a producer, Janhvi resonated with that. She revealed that her mother never wanted her to be an actor. Sharing that Sridevi wanted an easy and comfortable life for her daughters, Janhvi added:

“Mom actually never wanted me to become an actor. We’re a result of our parents’ ambitions, but also their insecurities. She had spent so much time in front of the camera, seen all of it, done all of it. She would keep telling me, ‘I’ve toiled away so that I can give my girls an easy life. This is not an easy life. It is not as glamorous as you think it is. I really just want you to have a comfortable life. This is not it.’”

Furthermore, Jahnvi revealed that her mother wanted her to choose a different profession than being in showbiz, and desired her to become a doctor. The Dhadak actress recalled that Sridevi had warned her about the comparisons that she would have to face being her daughter. In Janhvi’s words:
“And she told me, Karan. She said, ‘The comparisons that are going to come with you becoming an actor being my daughter, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy’. She said that repeatedly, and she said, ‘Why can’t you just become a doctor?' And I said, ‘Mumma, I promise you I will play the role of a doctor in a movie.’”

Meanwhile, Janhvi will play a doctor in her upcoming movie, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi. Further in the conversation, the actress also said that she inherited her parents' mad love and passion for films, along with other privileges. She shared that her obsession with films runs in her blood. In her words:
“It’s all I knew, it’s all I’ve seen, it’s everything that I’ve loved. Every positive memory that I’ve had growing up, all of the associations I’ve made spending time with my family, all have something to do with films. The love that I feel for movies and acting is in my blood. Ye jo nepotism bolte hai, ye privilege aayi, fame aaya, whatever you want to say khoon mein ye bhi aaya hai obsession filmon ka.”
