Every woman's first love, saree connects her to her roots and makes heads turn in wonderment when she flaunts the nine yards of elegance! If we have to name someone from the B-town, who perfectly blends the contemporary elegance and traditional charm with her saree looks, then it has to be the Dhadak of the nation, Janhvi Kapoor. Baatein Bhool Jaati Hai, Yaadein Yaad Aati Hai... But for Janhvi Kapoor, her mother, Sridevi's words and memories both stayed with her even after her untimely demise and it helps the starlet to shape her life in a better way. Even the thought of living a life without our mothers sends shivers down our spine, Janhvi and her sister, Khushi Kapoor have been living that tough life being one another's pillar of strengths. Janhvi often takes to her social media profile to reminisce the fond memories with Sridevi and sometimes even her caption-less posts speak for the volume of love the 23-year-old starlet has for her late mother.
On National Handloom Day 2020, which is celebrated to salute whoever is associated with handloom and handicrafts sector, Janhvi Kapoor posted a picture of herself, wearing her mother, Sridevi's saree. It was on August 7, in the year 1905 to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement, which was launched in the Calcutta Town hall to protest against partition of Bengal by the British Government. Sharing a picture in her most favourite and special handloom saree, Janhvi captioned the post as "Today is National Handloom Day! This is my most favourite and most special handloom saree. The weavers and artisans in our country are truly unmatched in skill and creativity- the best in the world! #vocal4handmade @pmoindia @narendramodi @smritiiraniofficial @ministryoftextilesgoi."
For the unversed, Janhvi Kapoor had donned her mother’s beautiful saree and had looked as pretty as her, at the 65th National Film Awards. Sridevi had worn a pink and white kanjeevaram saree at actor, Ram Charan's wedding in 2013. Even though with some minor changes in the saree, Janhvi had proved that she is the reflection of her mother. While originally Sridevi had worn this saree with a sleeveless blouse and matching necklace and earrings, her daughter, Janhvi had opted for cropped sleeves blouse and kept her look simple with just a pair of jhumkas. It wasn't the first time that Janhvi Kapoor had reminded us of her late mother, Sridevi with her sartorial picks. In 2018, a few months after Sridevi’s demise, Janhvi had graced her mother’s old dupatta and had worn it exactly like her. Janhvi had styled the beautiful rose printed pink dupatta with a solid white kurta, just like her mother. Like mother, like daughter, we say! It had surely touched our nostalgic chords right, and Janhvi continuing her mother’s legacy had left us all teary-eyed.

Similarly, at the annual Umang Mumbai Police Show on January 19, 2020, Janhvi Kapoor’s scarlet red saree had reminded us, yet again, of her mother, Sridevi. Wearing her favourite, Manish Malhotra, Janhvi had opted for a head-to-toe red look with intricate embroidery and sequin work on her saree. She had accentuated her look with a sleeveless blouse which had a plunging neckline and skinny beaded straps with zero jewellery, minimal beauty look and just-got-out-of-bed waves! Janhvi’s all red look had reminded us of her mother, Sridevi, who had opted for the same hue look for an award ceremony.
At the Benetton fragrance launch event, Janhvi Kapoor had given sneak peeks into her own personal olfactory memory lane, describing scents that reminds her of some cherishable moments of her life, which is related with Sridevi. Revealing her mother's favourite scent, Janhvi had said, "My childhood smells like my mom. We used to spend a lot of time in our home in Chennai, and she used to put mogras all over our house and in her hair, so it smells like her."
Janhvi Kapoor had also reminisced her first makeup memory, which was a special moment with her mother, Sridevi. Janhvi had recalled, "I had a stage show at school, where I was doing a Bharatnatyam dance, and mom did my makeup for that." Years later, Janhvi had shared that she had learnt an important skincare tip that her mother vouched for too, and had revealed, "After you work out, because your pores are open, put ice or cold water on your face to close the pores back again."
