Jaya Bachchan has been facing heat from netizens because of her comment on Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. For the unversed, the actress sat for a conversation with Indian TV, where she criticised the title of Akshay Kumar's 2017 hit film. She even asked the audience if they would watch a movie with such a title and even called it a 'flop film'. However, the comment did not sit well with the netizens, and they hit back at the actress for the same. 

Jaya Bachchan's comment was shared by several Instagram pages, including Viral Bhayani, and soon users chimed in to share their views on it. A user wrote, "Inka attitude alag level ka hai. Another penned, "Aap kyu dekhne jaogi aapka hi to main role tha usme." A comment read, "Obviously, she is allergic to social issues. Living in her mansion must make it hard for her to connect with real issues the country is facing." An Instagram user said, "What can one expect from this lady.." A comment stated: 

"Democratic and constitutional rights, your money, your choice. If you don't want to go, it's your choice, and at the same time, keep your opinions to yourself; it's simple logic. There will always be a difference in thinking and opinions due to the generation gap."

The actress took to the stage and, while talking about movies with social messages, cited the name of the film. She asked how someone could watch a movie with such a name. She added that she would never go and watch the film. She was quoted as saying:

"Abhi aap naam bhi dekhiye toh main aisi picturein khud kabhi na dekhne jau. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, yeh koi naam hai? Yeh koi title hai? Please bataiye aap logo me se kitne log iss tarah ki title wali film dekhne jayenge."
