Star kids have been facing internet's wrath for a while now. The subject of nepotism had put several actors, producers and directors on the stand for favouring privileged off-springs over those who had worked through sleepless nights to get where they are. Now, this conversation has taken a new turn, as people have started noticing that wanting to work in the Hindi film industry, the star kids have difficulty even speaking the language. 

Journalist called star kids out for not being able to speak in Hindi

Recently, television host, YouTuber and radio announcer, Siddharth Kannan hosted a special episode on his YouTube channel featuring other eminent film journalists, including Himesh Mankad, Mayank Shekhar and Rohit Khilnani. They discussed the malpractices in the industry and even called out some stars for being unable to speak Hindi. In a short clip uploaded on the discussion platform, Reddit, the journalists could be seen discussing how the star kids can't speak in Hindi, yet they want to be a part of the Hindi film industry.

During the conversation, Himesh Mankad was seen sharing a message for all the star kids. He pointed out how every star kid who has made their debut in the past five years has difficulty speaking Hindi. He stated that they needed to learn Hindi if they wished to work in the Hindi film industry. He was quoted as saying:

"To all the star kids, yaar agar aap Hindi films mei acting karna chahatey ho, toh pehle Hindi seekho. Last five years every actor who has made a debut usko Hindi bolni nahi aati. Archies mei jitte log the, ek jann ko Hindi bolni nahi aati. Aagar aap Hindi nahi bologe toh aap Hindi film industry mei kaam karna deserve nahi kartey. I mean Hindi bolni nahi aati yaar Hindi film industry mei reh kar. How is it possible?"

Journalists talk about Ibrahim Ali Khan using AI for dubbing

During the conversation, Siddharth Kannan asked about the reports suggesting that Dharma had used AI to dub for Ibrahim Ali Khan in Nadaaniyan. Rohit Khilnani responded to the question and corrected that it was AI voice correction that is speculated to have been used for the actor's part in the film. He revealed that there is software that is being used to edit the actors' voices. He stated:

"I think there is some software on dubbing which you can use to make your voice clearer or something like that. I have not exactly sat and seen what it is, but there is a software."

When Siddharth further asked if this AI correction tool was a welcomed change in the film industry. Rohit stated that it was not. He stated how long the producers hide someone's original voice as, at some point, it ought to be revealed. He stated:

"Absolutely not. How long can you hide someone's original voice? Someday, they will come on video, or someday, they'll put out something. So, I think this is more of a way of hiding reality. So I don't think it will go a long way."

As soon as the video was shared on the discussion platform, netizens chimed in to share their views on it. A user said, "Kuch saalon mein Nepos will start using AI software for 'Expression Corrections' too." Another penned, "Inko Hindi aati nai English aati nai koi regional language aati nai acting aati nai to karte kya the ye log???" A user commented, "This is so depressing that I'm at a loss for words. Arts, culture and the joy of creating something that connects to humanity have ended. A new era of AI slop has begun."
