Devara: Part 1 is Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr., commonly known as Jr NTR's 30th film as a lead actor. The Telugu film is directed by the critically acclaimed filmmaker, Koratala Siva. Apart from the film’s lead actor, Jr NTR, it also features a series of renowned actors, including Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, Shruti Marathe, Srikanth, and many more. The film is all set to hit theatres on September 27, 2024, across India.
According to a report by Sacknilk, tickets for 1,178 shows in Andhra Pradesh alone have been sold for Rs. 5.10 crore, which speaks volumes about people’s excitement for this film. As per many industry experts, Jr NTR’s Devara is going to break a series of records at the box office and has the potential to be one of the highest-grossing films of 2024.

From six special midnight screenings of Devara on its opening day to multiplexes raising ticket prices by Rs. 135, Jr NTR’s film is all set to make a stir in the Indian film industry. Amidst all the excitement around the release of Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1, a picture is doing rounds on social media in which we can see the film’s poster and a shark together.
The official Twitter handle of NTR Trends shared the picture, which once again proved that Jr NTR has a crazy fanbase. We witnessed another glimpse of the fans’ madness for Jr NTR on September 22, 2024, when the pre-release event was cancelled due to uncontrollable turnout.
One of the most-asked questions about Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1 is related to its plot. People are anxious to know whether the film is inspired by a real-life event or not. According to a report in CineJosh, the film’s director, Koratala Siva has reportedly taken inspiration from the infamous Karamchedu massacre. The harrowing incident took place in Andhra Pradesh and as per the report, Koratala’s Devara is heavily influenced by the same.

For the uninitiated, the 1985 Karamchedu massacre is a tragic incident that is related to the Dalit community, especially Madigas. The Dalit community was brutally attacked and killed by the Kamma landlords. While most of the Dalit people lost their lives, some fled from their homes in order to save themselves. The Karamchedu massacre is a painful page in Andhra Pradesh’s history. It will be interesting to see whether Jr NTR’s Devara will showcase a connection with the infamous incident or if it comes down to the reports being nothing but just a hoax.
