Juhi Babbar is one of the eminent names in the world of theatre and drama. Daughter of yesteryear actor, Raj Babbar, she has cemented her name as an iconic thespian, and has been a part of a number of performances, including Pukar, Begum Jaan, Pencil Se Brush Tak, With Love, Aap Ki Saiyaara and many others. In her personal life, Juhi is married to eminent actor, Anup Soni, and the couple is blessed with a son, Imaan.
In a recent interaction with the Hindustan Times, Juhi Babbar opened up about her choice of doing theatre and not films. The diva, who belongs to a true-blue film family, made her Bollywood debut in 2003 with the film, Kash Aap Hamare Hote, subsequently made lesser stints in films, and instead focused on theatre, following the footsteps of her mother, Nadira Babbar. Adding how she refused to do stupid films for the sake of work, Juhi mentioned:
“Unfortunately, I never got good work in Punjabi or Hindi cinema. 'Kash Aap Hamare Hote' didn't work at the box office. Still, girls used to get movies then. Like, the typical three hero and three heroine movies, where you are doing stupid, dumb characters. People told me, '2-4 aise role kar lo, tum achi actor ho notice ho jaogi' I said, 'No'.”

Speaking along the same lines, Juhi Babbar asserted that she doesn’t really have any regrets about choosing theatre and not films, while most of the people in her family are employed in the latter. The actress took pride and mentioned how instead of doing mediocre and questionable films, she has a good and standing career in films, and she doesn’t need to hide away her work from her son, fearing its viewing eligibility. In her words:
“I don't know whether it made for a good professional decision or not. Nonetheless, it made me a happier person and at least today there are no tapes that I have to hide from my 12-year-old son.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Juhi Babbar recalled an interesting anecdote, wherein her son, Imaan, once asked her as to why people don’t really approach her for autographs in the public. The actress revealed explaining to her baby boy how she, as a theatre artist, is not that much popular, unlike his father, Anup Soni, or grandfather, Raj Babbar or even his mamu, Prateik Babbar. Juhi narrated:
“My son asked me this question when he was 7-8, we were at the airport and he said, 'You are also an actor, why don't people take your autograph?' I said, 'Son, I am not in a famous medium, your father is in a famous medium. He said, 'Ya, nana is in the famous medium, Mamu is in the famous medium. Imaan feels very proud and happy about me doing movies and keeps asking about my future projects.”
