With her million-dollar smile and sparkling eyes, warm aura and comic timing, charm and vivaciousness, Juhi Chawla had won immense fan-following and billions of hearts in the 80s and 90s. It was her sweet, 'belle of the ball' role in 1988 debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and ever since there has been no looking back for Juhi. With her multifaceted career graph, there’s no other actor who matches up to Juhi’s ‘mind-shattering’ performances and skill. Former Miss India pageant winner, Juhi Chawla and her industrialist husband, Jay Mehta are exemplars of a perfect couple, who have held each other’s hands through thick and thin and have been constant pillars of strength for one another. Juhi is Jay’s second wife, and their love journey has truly stood the test of time. Jay and Juhi are blessed with two kids, Jahnavi Mehta and Arjun Mehta. Despite being constantly in the limelight, Juhi had kept her personal life and her kids guarded from the media scrutiny.
A couple of days back, we had shared Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan cheering for their sunshine, Suhana Khan on her graduation day at the Ardingly College in Sussex, England, and how they had taken to their social media profiles to express the proud moment. Now, Shah Rukh’s co-star and his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders' co-owner, Juhi Chawla too, has taken to her Instagram and shared a heartfelt moment of her daughter, Jahnavi from her school farewell. Jahnavi had passed her 10th from the Dhirubhai Ambani International School and was one of the 10 students who had passed out with A grades. She then went to Charter House Boarding School, London, for further studies. Looks like Jahnavi has completed her studies there as Juhi posted the following picture from her farewell and captioned it as, “Jahnavi at her school farewell chapel... happy and sad both at the same time...” followed by heart emojis.
In an interview with the IANS sometime back, Juhi Chawla had talked about the career aspirations of her kids, Jahnavi Mehta and Jay Mehta. The Yes Boss star had said, "My small monkey Arjun has clearly told us, 'Mom don't even think about it'. With Jahnavi, I'm not so sure. Arjun is quite funny and good with mimicking accents. He's actually hilarious, so I feel sometimes that he could maybe try. Jahnavi is an avid reader. If there is anything she likes in this world, and if you ask her what she wants as a gift, it will be a book. She said she wanted to be a writer. Then she went through a phase where she said 'Okay I want to be a model'. Tomorrow she might say 'I want to be an actress'. Then she might say she wants to drop all this and do sports. I don't know, but I have learnt one thing that you have to let your children do what they want." Unlike the general notion of a star kid willing to take up acting in future, or celeb parents wishing that their children carry their legacy forward, Juhi Chawla does not wish any such thing. Speaking along the similar lines, Juhi had stated, “There is too much of the parenting stuff going on these days. Parents put pressure and interfere with what they [their kids] are doing, which I think is highly unnecessary. That is not something that I have ever done with my kids.”

Juhi Chawla feels that giving one’s children an environment of support is one of the best forms of encouragement. The Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke actress had continued, “Stop the overparenting please and let the kids be. So long as they are happy doing what they want to do it’s all good. Their strength should be encouraged, and as a parent we have to be there for them, support them and allow them to fly. I don’t remember my parents telling me what to do. I just remember that my father wanted me to study a lot.”
In a tete-e-tete with The Telegraph, Juhi Chawla was asked, “Which films of yours do your kids love?” To which she had replied, “I have to ask them! They must have watched three films of mine in their whole life. I don’t even know if they have caught anything on TV. I don’t see them watching Hindi films or any film. Not my films definitely! (Laughs) They are so embarrassed watching me.”
At the Indian Premier League players' auction in Bengaluru on January 28, 2018, it was not Juhi Chawla but her daughter, Jahnavi Mehta, who had stolen the limelight and had become the talk of the town. Preity Zinta, co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, was impressed with Jahnavi as she had given her a ‘run for her money’. Sharing a picture with Jahnavi, Preity had tweeted, “Forget the madness of the #VivoIPLAuction - it’s awesome to meet the super smart Jahnavi Mehta who gave me a run for our money #smartgirlsrock”.
