Juhi Chawla is one of the evergreen actresses of her generation in Bollywood. She kickstarted her career in showbiz by winning the prestigious Miss India pageant in 1994. She carved the most glorious career back in the 90s, by delivering some of the most successful films at the box-office. Amidst all the actors opposite whom she had been paired with, Juhi’s most-loved jodi was with Aamir Khan. The duo’s memorable films include Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Ishq, Andaz Apna Apna, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke among others.
Recently, Juhi Chawla graced the popular dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 11. Amongst other fun interactions she had on the episode, Juhi was asked by Farah Khan to reveal the cheapest gift she ever got from any celebrity. To this, the actress promptly took Aamir Khan’s name, and then recalled a particular incident when the latter turned in to her birthday celebration with the cheapest gift. She mentioned:
“You want me to say the name? It was Aamir Khan. This was when we had just become stars. It was my birthday and, in the evening, Aamir called and said he would come home. He came home to wish me and everyone in my house was excited. He sat and removed a small chocolate for me and said that is my gift.”

During the show, Juhi Chawla also recalled the time when they were shooting for their film, Ishq and claimed that it was Aamir Khan who used to be the mischief maker on the sets. The actress mentioned that quite contrary to the serious roles that Aamir and Ajay Devgn had to essay on-screen, they would in reality pull some serious pranks, including on the new assistant director on the film sets. Juhi recalled how the AD used to get scolded by the filmmaker, Inder Kumar who never believed that the two actors were the real pranksters.
Well, there can be no doubts that Juhi Chawla shone bright as one of the leading ladies of the 90s and early 2000s in Bollywood. Her stardom and crown of popularity remained constant despite facing stiff competition with some of her equally glorious contemporaries, such as Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon amongst others. Previously, in one of her interviews with Rediff, Juhi revealed if she was competitive with her contemporaries and said:
“Not only Madhuri, but Karisma, Manisha, Raveena– we were all rivals. The rivalry remained for some years. We used to meet only on occasions like some film sets or functions. We would just exchange pleasantries and wouldn’t talk beyond that. We all worked in solo heroine films. Very rarely have I done films with two heroines. There were constant comparisons.”

The actress remembered how during their years of courtship, Jay surprised her with a truckload of roses on her birthday. In her words:
“Everywhere I looked, he was there with flowers and notes and gifts. Every day! On my birthday, I remember he sent me a truckload of red roses. I was like, ‘What do you do with a truckload of flowers?’ He really did all he could. After a year, he proposed.”
