Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan have been one of the most beloved on-screen jodis in Bollywood. The duo became co-stars for the first time in the film, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. Thereafter, SRK and Juhi delivered one after the other hits at the box-office, which includes cult classics like Darr, Yes Boss, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Duplicate, One 2 Ka 4, among others. Later on, Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan professionally collaborated again, as co-owners of the IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders. And now, Juhi remembered a very interesting anecdote about SRK.
Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic dialogue, “K-K-K Kiran” from the film, Darr has been a cult favourite of countless of his fans. Even today, fans remember the superstar with reference to his challenging role and the dialogue in the movie, that also starred Juhi Chawla and Sunny Deol in pivotal roles. Recently, at an event hosted by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Juhi Chawla spilled beans on how Shah Rukh got hold of the quirky, stammering way of speaking the particular dialogue in the film. Referring to how SRK imitated Yash Chopra’s slight stammer, she said:

“Maine yeh notice nahin kiya tha but Shah Rukh was observant. Yash ji thoda haklate the aur Shah Rukh ne bataya ki unhone woh wahan se pick kiya tha. He said, ‘I am going to use it in the film’ and wahan se unhone woh shuru kiya and thank God for that!”

Earlier, during the docu-series, The Romantics on Netflix, Shah Rukh Khan had spoken about how he managed to emote his character in the film, Darr, who had a slight stammer in his speech. He remembered how he had a friend in school with a similar speech defect, and thereafter he researched a lot about such people becoming extremely susceptible to sharp sound intonations. In his words:
“I had a classmate who had a stammer. And then we did some little study, some BBC documentary or something where they talked about that people’s minds become aware to one sound, and it’s like a sharp current.”
Back during her appearance on Koffee With Karan, Juhi Chawla had reminisced about the first time that she crossed paths with Shah Rukh Khan. Since the latter was a fairly newcomer, the actress was quite shocked to find him as her co-star. Juhi mentioned being initially told that her co-star in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman closely resembled Aamir Khan. However, when she first saw him in person, she went “eeks”, quite surprised at his brown skin and messy hair.

Fast forward to now, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla have become friends like family, and are proud co-owners of the IPL cricket team, Kolkata Knight Rider. Earlier, during a press meet, Juhi had opened up about how watching their team’s matches with Shah Rukh Khan isn’t a good idea. Adding how the actor vents out his anger, Juhi said:
“It is not good to watch a match with him because when our team is not performing well, he vents out his anger at me. I tell him to tell that to the team and not me. So we are not the best people to watch the match with. I think the same goes for a lot of owners. They all can be seen sweating while their teams play.”
