Aoora, whose real name is Park Min Jun, is a South Korean singer and composer, who was once a part of the K-pop boy band, Double-A and its subunit, Aoora&Hoik. He first started his musical journey in 2009, with the song, Love Back. Later, Aoora ventured into his solo career and released his first single, Body Part, in 2014. In September of last year, Aoora's cover of the song, Swag Se Swagat received one million views. During the same month, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department announced that Aoora would be performing a series of concerts across India as part of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and South Korea. On his Instagram page, Aoora has shared multiple videos of himself singing Hindi songs and has also posted many pictures of his travels in India.
Aoora has even released ‘K-pop versions’ of the eighties hit songs, Auva Auva and Jimmy Jimmy. In an interview with Rolling Stones, the K-pop idol revealed why he ventured into the Indian music industry. He said:
“I became familiar with Indian music almost a year back when I first heard the ‘Cham Cham’ song. I felt the energy of Indian songs – not just Bollywood but also Tamil, Telugu, and Punjabi – matched with my energy and liking. I started exploring more Indian music. I wanted to explore a music genre where I could bring both Indian and K-pop music elements together. That is when we approached Saregama with this idea. They were enthusiastic about this experiment, and that’s how this new journey started for me.”
