Kabir Bedi's relationship with Parveen Babi brewed as his marriage with Protima came towards its end. The veteran actor revealed that he and his first wife, Protima, were in an open marriage. While she was having an affair with a French guy, he found solace in the arms of Parveen, who was the most loved actress of that time. However, they relationship ended on a sour note. Despite Kabir facing the brunt of destroying her mental health, he attended Parveen's last rites.
Parveen Babi was the most gorgeous actress of her time, but her superstardom destroyed her inner well-being, and she was diagnosed with serious mental health problems. Things turned so ugly for Parveen that she not only created a safe distance from the glamorous world but also did not leave her home. At the age of fifty, she passed away at her home in 2005.

There wasn't anyone who claimed her body for three days, and people found out about her death after she had not picked up her newspaper and groceries. In an interview with Digital Commentary, Kabir was asked if the rumours of him attending Parveen's last rites with the other two men (Mahesh Bhatt and Danny) she was in a relationship with were true. Kabir replied:
"Hum sab the, sabne kandha diya. Bahut dukh ki baat thi."
In the same interview, Kabir Bedi discussed the reason for his breakup with Parveen. He shared that it ended when he forced her to get medical help because he knew that she wasn't right mentally. Recalling an incident, Kabir shared that Parveen was with him in Italy as he was becoming an international star through the show, Sandokan.
When they went to London, he felt Parveen wasn't right mentally, so he asked her to get treatment as she was becoming paranoid. It was the major reason why she left him. Kabir was quoted as saying:

"Vo toh isliye humare relationship ki khatam hui kyunki jab Italy ke baad hum London aaye mai ne dekha uski condition kharab ho rahi hai. Aur usko yeh manjoor nahi tha, jab ki mai janta tha ki agar vo treatment nahi legi toh haal bigadta jayega. Or is baat pe huamri separation hogayi."
Kabir further revealed that Parveen Babi left him in the fear that he would force her to get treated. She even thought that film projects would stop coming to her as people in India would know about her condition. Kabir shared:
"She left him is darr ke ki he will force me to have treatment. Or paranoid mind jo hote hai vo her cheej se darte hai toh usko laga doctor ko pata chal gaya toh vo industry ko bta dega, mera career khatam ho jayega. Toh Parveen Babi left me, I didn't leave her."
