The most-awaited film of 2021, '83, was released in theatres on December 24, 2021. The film has been declared tax-free in Delhi, and it speaks everything about the film's potential and brewing success. The film is directed by Kabir Khan and is based on the Indian team's triumph at the 1983 World Cup. The movie stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, Deepika Padukone as Romi Bhatia, Hardy Sandhu as Madan Lal, Tahir Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, and the list goes on.
For the unversed, Talking about Kapil Dev's personal life, then he had gotten married to his longtime girlfriend, Romi Bhatia, in 1980 and had welcomed a beautiful daughter in their lives in 1996, whom they have lovingly named Amiya Dev.

In a recent interview, Kabir Khan talked about his recently-released film, '83 and revealed that Kapil Dev's daughter, Amiya Dev, had worked as an assistant director in the movie. The director stated that the inclusion of Amiya in his team helped him a lot throughout the filming of his biographical drama. Kabir Khan also added that whenever they needed Kapil Dev to do something in the context of the film, all they had to do was just bring Amiya forward. The filmmaker also said that Kapil Dev never said 'no' to his daughter, Amiya, and this bond between the father-daughter duo played a crucial part in the film's shooting. He explained:
"Kapil Paaji's daughter Amiya was my assistant in 83 and anything we wanted done from him, we just had to communicate it through her. He couldn't say no to Amiya for anything."
Going further in the interview, Kabir Khan also opened up about Kapil Dev's daughter, Amiya Dev's most significant contribution to their film, '83. The director recalled how he had wanted Kapil Dev's cameo in the film, and it was Amiya who had convinced and had helped her father with all the acting stuff involved in front of the camera. Heaping immense praises on Amiya's contribution in '83, Kabir Khan said:
"It was a very spontaneous decision to have Kapil Dev on the screen for a shot. We didn't want it to appear gimmicky, and it isn't."

At the end of the interview, Kabir Khan shared multiple instances when Amiya Dev had pulled him and his entire crew out of confusion and doubt over the little things involved in the 1983 World Cup. The director admitted that Amiya used to call her father, Kapil Dev, instantly whenever they needed to know about the minor details of the iconic event. He said:
"Each time we needed verification of some detail from the 1983 match, we would make her call up her father and his colleagues from the World Cup. It could be something as trivial as the colour of a player's gloves on the field that historic day in 1983…We had to get every detail right. We have thousands of people out there with every detail of the match etched vividly in their memory. We didn't want to be caught on the wrong foot."
