Every year we witness so many celebrity marriages that when its time for a wedding at our home, we look up to the celeb brides and grooms for inspirations. In an interview with the Vogue, Kajal Aggarwal had spoken about how love had blossomed between her and Gautam Kitchlu, as he is a businessman and the founder of bespoke interior design firm, Discern Living. Kajal had recalled, “Gautam and I dated for about three years, and then we were friends for seven. We have progressed in every stage of being friends and been very important in each other’s lives. I know it is a very clichéd, stereotypical thing to say, because I am from the film industry, but that’s exactly how it has happened.” Revealing how pandemic had laid a foundation for a socially distanced wedding, Kajal had remarked, “We were used to meeting all the time. Whether it was a social party or an important professional endeavour, the other one would always show up. So, amidst the lockdown, when we didn’t see each other for a few weeks—at best, we would catch a glimpse behind a mask at a grocery store—we realised that we wanted to be together.”
Kajal Aggarwal and Gautam Kitchlu had gotten engaged in June in a private ceremony in the middle of the lockdown. For the engagement, Kajal had picked Manish Malhotra and thanking him for such a beautiful outfit, Kajal had written, “My dearest @manishmalhotra05 thank you for getting your team to create this beautiful saree for me, all the way back in June, bang in the middle of the thick of the lockdown- when nothing was even possible. I truly appreciate all your effort, hard work and the warmth with which you were a part of my engagement. Lots of love.” Describing the outfits and customised masks, Manish had written on his IG handle, “The colour of this festive season Tuscan Yellow and the signature @manishmalhotraworld Organza Saree with intricate pretty thread and sequin embroidery and the cowl pearl strings signature creative back with synchronised masks celebrating gorgeous @kajalaggarwalofficial and @kitchlug engagement styled by @stylebyami .. @manishmalhotrajewellery sets this festive season ablaze #love.”
Soon after her wedding announcement, we had gotten a glimpse of the fun-filled bachelorette bash of Kajal Aggarwal at the comfort and safety of her own home. Kajal’s sister, Nisha Aggarwal had posted sneak-peeks into the soon-to-be bride’s wonderful bachelorette party. For the Playboy-themed bridal shower, hosted by her sister, Nisha, Kajal had opted for a gorgeous LBD. With an iconic bunny ear headgear to colourful balloons and sweet props, Kajal’s bachelorette bash was a perfect way to end her singlehood before she embarked on the journey of Mrs Kitchlu.

Before tying the knot with Gautam Kitchlu, Kajal Aggarwal’s family had hosted a Radha Krishna satsang and it was only after their wedding, that Mrs Kitchlu had given a glimpse of her outfit for the same. For the satsang, the beautiful then-to-be bride had mesmerised us in bespoke Varun Bahl Couture. Kajal’s pristine red and ethereal ivory anarkali had a deep neckline and intricate floral embroidery marking the torso and the back. The red embroidered embellishments were scattered on her anarkali and she had paired it with churidar silk pants and zari net dupatta featuring floral embroidery. Kajal had accentuated her look in statement bracelets, choker, earrings and white floral embellishments to accessorise her mid-parted silky tresses open in a twirled hairstyle.
For the mehendi ceremony, the then-bride-to-be, Kajal Aggarwal had made our heads turn in a beautiful pale green Anita Dongre kurti and sharara set. Kajal had flaunted her mehendi clad hands in a sleeveless green floral kurti paired with shararas and a light dupatta with boho tassel detailing. Kajal had completed her look with gold chaandbalis to accentuate her light mehendi outfit, nude lips and kohled eyes to go with her braided hair. Giving us perfect outfit inspiration for haldi ceremony, Kajal had picked a vibrant but light ensemble. Kajal’s yellow set, featuring a quirky pattern of orange flowers and cute little birds was an eye-catching outfit for the haldi function. Kajal had accentuated her haldi outfit with two sets of accessories. Firstly, she had paired her beautiful vibrant outfit with a thick stack of gold bangles, matching gold aviators and metallic tassel-detailed earrings. Kajal had later switched to floral bridal jewellery including a matha patti, pink and white earrings, kadas, and a haar made entirely of blooms. For the Gaur Puja before the wedding, Kajal Aggarwal had opted for an Anita Dongre’s customised ensemble and had made us fall in love with the pastels all over again. Thanking Anita for the outfit, Kajal had revealed that her exquisite lehenga was conceptualised and custom-made keeping in mind the architecture, serenity and beauty of Lake Como, the couple’s favourite holiday destination. Explaining Kajal’s ensemble, Anita had written on her IG handle, “@kajalaggarwalofficial in a custom-created lehenga, inspired by the couple’s favourite holiday destination Villa D’este, for their wedding festivities.” Kajal had completed her look with a matching embroidered potli, choker, earrings, a kada by Anita Dongre Pinkcity and her ponytail hair was accentuated with artificial flowers broch.
It is rightly said that nothing can ever match the upbeat Punjabi weddings and so is the unmatchable charm of a Punjabi bride! The chooda and kalire ceremony are deeply rooted in our cultural significance and it is more than just an accessory for the bride as it defines and highlights her styles statement on her next wedding functions. For the chooda and kalire ceremony, Kajal Aggarwal had picked an orange anarkali by Shyamal & Bhumika teamed with a beautiful contrasting pink resham dupatta. Kajal’s look was accentuated with timeless pieces of heavy jewellery including an aesthetically stoned and pearl choker, a meenakari maang teeka and a nath.
The much-awaited day came when Kajal Aggarwal made a style statement with her bridal lehenga for her Punjabi and Kashmiri wedding. Kajal’s opulent Anamika Khanna red lehenga was paired with a contrasting pastel dupatta, a pearl-encrusted kamarbandh and heirloom pieces from her mother and grandmother. Explaining Kajal’s outfit, the designer had written, “Kajal’s lehenga is a labour of love. An intricate zardosi embroidered floral pattern that took 20 people almost a month to create.” In an interview with the Vogue, Kajal Aggarwal had revealed the details of her look and was quoted as saying, “The Kashmiri resham work was so intricate that it look like I draped a shawl around me. I wore uncut diamond jewellery by Sunita Shekhawat, and some heirloom pieces [matha patti and nath] from my mother and nani. My chooda came from Amritsar, and Mrinalini Chandra personalised my kalire with charms of swans, love locks and more.”
Kajal Aggarwal’s first appearance as Mrs Kitchlu was for her reception dinner and just like her pre-wedding looks had caught everyone’s attention, this ensemble too, became a favourite! Kajal had roped in Falguni Shane Peacock for her wedding reception and the designers did a fabulous job as Mrs Kitchlu had swept us off our feet in her mermaid-cut body-skimming embellished lehenga with little cut-outs on the blouse and a sheer cape-style dupatta.
